wait really?

Yes, the insiders said “Training Season” was the lead but they switched it. They also said it’s was a little less risky than Houdini iirc and that they preferred it to Houdini.

Not sure, but considering this wasn’t supposed to be the lead single I wouldn’t be surprised if they filmed this video last minute recently

Do we know why they changed the lead at the last minute?

I DO have this vission of her being in a theater/circus show doing cute tricks and the climax includes some dangerous live-threatening moments with her possibly being in there as a spy of some sorts. It's giving Zachary campbell Waves music video vission but I'm gagging in my head

i have no idea why so many people are on the fence about the song. It's SO good. The sexy instrumental, the synthy Me-me-me that transitions into the NASTY guitar riff nearing the end of the song...10 10 10s *****

The lack of an explosive chorus is a complete non-issue and the video is exactly what the song needs

Right???

anyone hating on this is FORCING themselves to hate it. This is a BOP.

Both the song and the video are such a serve, I knew she wasn’t about to fail us:clap3:

I love the lyrics and her delivery, love that you can hear a bit of Kevin Parker in the production but it’s not a full on Tame Impala remake. I’m assuming the lead is more on the pop side of the album and hoping she dabbled more into this psych pop sound with some of the other tracks.

The video is so crisp and clean and she looks sexy as hell in it. A true pop star, god knows we needed one. Lemme go watch thats sh** again. 10/10 comeback!!:WAP:

Dua, Caroline, Tobias, Kevin and Danny being the core team for the album :jonny5:

this is the perfect team for an album tbh... we all know about danny and kevin but caroline is a phenomenal pop writer

No, I know people think it’s cause the rollout changed with the EMA cancellation but I’m not sure that’s the reason

I’m a big Dua nails fanatic so this would be the first time she’s repeated this specific shade of silver chrome OR she definitely filmed it recently enough to still have the nails from it during her recent promo

I really love the song, but I am a bit pissed how the aesthetics are so underutilized. Which pop star has ever had a single based on a legendary illusionist who specialized in magic tricks centered around disappearing and breaking locks? It was one of a kind theme that begged for a showstopping visual

Too true

"Houdini" is immaculate but the visuals have been disappointing so far.

The first time I heard the full I was like, okay this is really good, and then on the second listen I was obsessed. I was worried it was too repetitive on first listen but the bridge and outro are distinct and strong enough to squash that.

I was a fan of her debut, then I became obsessed with the Future Nostalgia era which was just slay after slay even during 2020. I also love Club Future Nostalgia and deem it underrated because I know some people don't like it. For me personally, everything after the Levitating video felt very cute... cute next to gorgeous when compared to the triumph of the first year of the era - maybe my expectations were a little too high. It also feels like a long time since 2020 so I was really ready for a new era.

The song is fantastic and dare I say it's her best yet? It's literally a pop masterclass - catchy, playful and fun, produced immaculately, groovy, and has a memorable title and concept. Maybe it's not too far removed from Future Nostalgia but when the song is this good... who cares? It sounds like Physical's funkier sister. It actually reminds me a lot of Britney's Gimme More which is an enormous compliment considering that that is my favourite song of all time. Both songs sound timeless, fun, catchy, have amazing and forward-thinking production and beats, never sink below 10/10 in terms of energy and have an amazing outro. The video is also very good and Dua is serving star power, although I would have liked to see them tackle the alternating reflections in the mirror idea more. I don't think the song is psychedelic overall despite the fact that that has been hinted at, so we'll see if / where that concept goes, but alas I think that this song is a knockout.

Ok I wasn’t sure until the bridge the production is fantastic. Very reminiscent of FN though not exactly an outtake

You rarely get adlibs on a Dua track but when you do they are incredible :clap3:
