Selegend Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 (edited) there are some people that create an artist page, make some 1 minute noise and let it on replay all day for weeks. with that they get royalties without being even an artist.Β of course it's not a lot, but this is getting common since i've read about it more than one timeΒ Β they probably did it to prevent those kind of stuff to happen. however, 200 streams annually is nothing and it won't hurt any artist (even the truly indie ones) since what they would've been getting from it would be like... $0.50 but it also won't stop those kind of things happening. so i don't get why spotify is doing it.Β Β Β Edited October 25, 2023 by Selegend 3

If there's a million amateurs uploading whatever on the service but bring in zero new subscribers, they are nothing more than a liability to the company, especially when they get royalites too. Those are the only ones that will get affected and most of them, like I said, are amateurs that have another job as their main source of income. No professional artist who has small gigs here and there or has label support will be unable to get 2 HUNDRED streams per song. Β Like, baby, if there are not 200 people in the world willing to listen to your song then Spotify should be the least of your concerns. Perfectly said. Thank you.
LCTV Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 If yall cant get 200 streams maybe try Soundcloud
burninredhot Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Most mainstream artists are selfish and dgaf as it doesn't effect them thoΒ
Taylena Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 I'm more surprised they hadn't those limits already.Β
Ms. Togekiss Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Taylor already tried and no one joined ha. Maybe ask your fave since she has the most streamed playlists on the platformΒ 1 1
adylovestaylorandjb Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 (edited) Asking people to pay 20 usd for csld where most money will go to label isn't a solution. They were looting people before. There should be middle ground Edited October 25, 2023 by adylovestaylorandjb

SuperCiC1 Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 As many have said for years, Spotify has been losing money to gain market share. There was never anything sustainable about Spotify's business model. 1

Those 5 dollars from 199 streams wont make Spotify bankrupt though. naval23 Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Honestly 200 streams is one dollar Β If it's important, i'm sure the artist could stream their own songs once a day Β Β
Eternium Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Did you all miss the part where criminals are using streaming farms to push numbers for fake songs/artists to get Spotify payouts resulting in Spotify funding illegal activists - most notably child trafficking? Axolotl Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Taylor already did back in 2014, and guess what, none of her peers supported her. Why should she do it again now?

Antikythera Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 this is predatory behavior, Spotify has 100 million dollars to give Joe Rogan for tired fake news podcast, but they act like the problem is small artists
