I knew Miss You Much and Escapade

Nope. I've actually never heard any Janet Jackson song besides Scream until I started reading about her on the internet.

She couldn't slaughter her rivals back then. What makes u think she will slaughter today?🤣 She is forgotten and has terrible streaming stats. Her album sales are absolutely below the level of other mpgs of her time, despite debuting  in sales era.

I mean... if Madonna, Whitney, Mariah and Celine were in the top tier of pop divas, Janet was just one tier below them. She was literally one of the 10 best-selling female artists of all time before digital singles blew up. I believe she was #7 for many years, and is still top 20 by pure sales. So let's not act like she wasn't huge just because she wasn't the BIGGEST with the big 4.

You can thumb down this comment all you want @adylovestaylorandjb but that doesn't take away from the facts :alexz3:

RN is actually well known in Asia along with Black cat. But the sound kinda limits it’s potential to be relatively local compared to the wider appeal like Janet and TVR.

Not really. But again the only pop girls actually relevant from that era in my country were Madonna and Celine Dion

And not Whitney?

Yes all her discography before atrl and I'm from Spain and I remember whatching Love Will Never Do and Escapade in music videos channels.

I grew up in a black household, so yes. All of Ms. Jackson’s music was played.

Black Cat & Love Will Never Do, probably not

Miss You Much & Escapade. Probably yes

I guess I did know Black Cat before I joined ATRL, perhaps I had discovered it in 2014 on my own:suburban:

But I've always had a oldies type of taste anyway so:skull:

The point was she didn't slaughter any rival even at her peak. She was always second grade globally compared to other four.

No, I only knew Rhythm Nation (song).

I knew of all the singles since I was a stan during the RN1814 era (yes, I am 38 years old :gaycat4:)

I was familiar to some of her songs but didn't put a name, performer, parent album or chart position to them. But they are classics nonetheless, I only got into pop forums/chart culture in the early to mid 2010s and I didn't get to experience her peak in real time.

Yes. They're pure classics. ALL singles from this album should have gone number one.

Not going to lie, her 80s work is beyond me. Even Control and Rhythm Nation. The only song I really knew was ''What Have You Done For Me Lately''. Her 90s and 00s work, I'm all up on though.

Janet is a non factor in Asia so I didn't know most of her songs, even when migrating to the U.S., it wasn't until I got into pop culture that I learned about her songs.

Still don't know a single one of her songs aside from All for You, a career ending bop!

Asia is one of her better markets lol.  What are you talking about lol. Especially Japan.

I knew caise I love pop music and performers, but this album is totally unknown in my country, Brazil.

The only Janet work to have some promo around here was "All 4 U".

Many people here think her and LaToya are the same person. A Michael sister who looks like him.

Funny story: even though she is very much unknown here, I found physical copies of Damita Jo and I had a fake The Videos dvd I found selling in a place who sold pirated dvds. So, she has some fans to buy it. Mind u this was loooooong ago.

I hated I couldnt find her Hawaii concert and had to wait a long time and watch it in the internet and in the end I found it was a weak show.

All for you your is amazing. Stop the blasphemy!
