The Woman in Me Megathread | Out now | Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt bid for adaptation

Message added by Ryan,

Do NOT make negative comments about Britney using her then-constitutional right to have an abortion. She and Justin mutually agreed to the decision.

She’s going to make a lot of money off this.

1.1 million in the US alone, with the bare minimum barely existent promo she’s done, is so impressive.

1.1 considering she did she 0 promo for it is huge

When you are EMBEDDED in POP CULTURE...sitdown interviews are not needed...even though I would have loved an Oprah sitdown.

To put things into prespective, other female memoirs (feel free to add more)

Michelle Obama: Becoming — 1.4 million in its first week in the US

Britney Spears: The Woman in Me — 1.1 million in its first week in the US / 170,000 in the UK

Jennette McCurdy: I’m Glad My Mom Died — 200,000 in its first week in the US

Hillary Clinton: Hard Choices — 100,000 in its first week in the US

Jessica Simpson: Open Book — 59,000 in its first week in the US

Mariah Carey: The Meaning of Mariah Carey — 62,557 in 3 weeks in the US / 6,940 in the UK

Jada Pinkett Smith: Worthy — 21,611 in its first week

Pretty incredible that this isn't that far off from Michelle Obama. That should tell you how insane these numbers are.

Imagine if she bundled album with it (assuming it was still allowed). She would’ve been able challenge and compete with Taylor for the #1 spot :jonny5:

To be honest, even though I grew up on and loved Britney's hits and listen to dance music, I used to dismiss Britney thinking she is this manufactured singer who does lazy choreo and only lipsyncs to her commercial music to make more money (at least after 2007). Now knowing the details, everything makes so much sense it is crazy :dancehall: Learning about her life story, her work ethic and personal struggles while she never put anyone down makes me respect her so much. I watched her music videos in a chronological order and finally remembered her genius after forgetting what a talented and charming star she was. I bawled my eyes out watching Everytime learning what this song is actually about :sosad: It is amazing how strong she stayed and she is still with us... I can't imagine facing all this media attention, misogyny, sexualizing her, paparazzi breaking her privacy 24/7, vile family, unlucky relationships, kids she fought for who don't want to live with her, people using her for money and fame, conservatorship... while staying so humble and good-hearted. Mad respect :clap3:She absolutely needs love and support

It is now confirmed the book did 2.4 million print copies sold globally in its first week

"In addition to the book’s U.S. success, it’s also been successful internationally. Simon & Schuster also published the book in the U.K., Australia, Canada and India.

“The book has been published in 26 languages/territories and is a #1 bestseller with an estimated 2.4 million copies in print globally,” the release continued."

“It is selling in extraordinary numbers across all editions worldwide, and we expect strong sales to continue throughout the holiday season and beyond. Readers and reviewers have embraced Spears’s candid and powerful memoir, in which she is finally able to share her story on her own terms.” — Jennifer Bergstrom, senior vice president, and publisher of Gallery Books.

Just a side note but never trust numbers for politicians with books or self-help/advice books.

In the U.S., ResultSource inflates their numbers and it’s why you see certain Conservative figureheads constantly smashing book sales records.

I just wanted to add that context just so everyone knew that none of these numbers are low even though they’d seem low compared to numbers from the likes of Donald Trump Jr. or Rush Limbaugh.
