The Woman in Me Megathread | Out now | Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt bid for adaptation

Message added by Ryan,

Do NOT make negative comments about Britney using her then-constitutional right to have an abortion. She and Justin mutually agreed to the decision.

I was very surprised at how much she hated The Onyx Hotel Tour like the show itself :chick3: .. I thought she only hated the schedule.

She was in a very dark place.

while sex has played a part of her brand since the onset The OHT was probably the most gimmicky tour in her prime. Of course the Circus and FF tours upped that but she didn't have control

in terms of the tours where she was in control it was very gimmicky almost Anna Nicole ok we have about 1-2 more years of this sex symbol thing so let's make her cosplay truth or dare tour in some places and play up the controversy factor.

It was aesthetically pleasing but thematically it was kind of forced and almost like a battery on low and her team was trying to work the last bits of it before it died out.

She said back then her heart wasn't in. itand it was likely because she was burnt out but her team likely though this was the end for her and put her on a big schedule to accelerate the burn out and cash in before they felt her pop stardom would die out.

I get that but it made sense for the tour to be sexual since In The Zone was a sexual album.. But yeah.. I guess it was too much and there was no need to.

You could also read between the lines and tell that she gave zero fucks about Britney Jean, and I do wonder if the vocal fuckery was maybe because she just wasn't into making it, and she honestly didn't care about it in the slightest, so she maybe didn't even care that Will and the team were screwing with the vocals. Or maybe she said **** it and some of the songs were just straight up unfinished.

I wish she went into the Perfume video debacle too, I feel like there is a through line with Perfume, Make Me, etc. where her team clearly intervened with the videos compared to what her vision was.

This whole situation has always read like 1)they were working her so much with Vegas she didn’t have much time to record and or she refused + 2)her dad wanted to show her that he really was Britney Spears now and put out the album without her

Really enjoying the audio book. I have to take it in bite size pieces I listen for about 30 minutes to an hour each time. I'm on chapter 18 now!

I think that’s momney talking because it was so sexual and a rebuttal to Justin and the press.

I agree with her though that dwad is her best tour (and one of the best ever in general)

Britney's magic was always the subtle push and pull of adult sexuality with girlhood innocence. Once things got overtly sexual and raunchy, that magic kind of went away.

Imagine it reaching top 3 after a full week and then #1 by years end.

It's giving certified legend teas.

Not musically.

There had to be a transition, though.

BOMT = Innocent suggestive teen

OIDIA = Good girl with a wink/tease

Britney = Innocent naughty girl/naughty innocent girl precocious

That was the transition from teen to adult

It made no sense to play innocent as a full on adult pop star

In the zone = spring break college girl gone wild

Blackout = Bad girls club no fks given pop punk rebellion

The magic left as soon as the conservatorship came into play

We love Circus and FF and Work btch but outside of Womanizer and IUSA everything else played it safe. Even 3 was safe because few new the hidden meaning.

Circus, Radar, HIAM, TTWE, IWG, Criminal, Perfume, Make me, Slumber party and maybe even Work btch for 2012 were not the edgy risk taking singles but her conservators wanted to make money not push art.

She had an edginess with the releases of Baby, Oops, Slave, Overprotected, MATM, Toxic and the nervy My Prerogative. Maybe if they chose different songs it would have been somewhat similar to her unique catalog pre conservatorship: Unusual you, Blur, How i roll? Up n down, He about to lose may, If I'm dancing, Just luv me (although it sounds very Selena Gomez esque)

Does anyone know how the book industry for memoirs works, do they tend to sell for a long time or is at all about the first week?

It tends to sell over time after the first month or two of push if it's a hit. Some are just a hit for a month or two and then fall off. don't think it will be the case here.

The buzz for the book has been incredible.

As a stan, you have a certain experience

As a casual fan, it should be different

As someone who was forced by the media to witness this and wants to know her take should have more respect for her.

As a nosy person, it should interest them too.

Her truth will hopefully sell over time as the buzz continues.
