The Woman in Me Megathread | Out now | Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt bid for adaptation

Message added by Ryan,

Do NOT make negative comments about Britney using her then-constitutional right to have an abortion. She and Justin mutually agreed to the decision.

Yes, that's why Jamie Lynn always maintained he cheated first when asked about it.

Here's the thing:

Justin took control of the narrative.

He did it because when Britney cheated on him with Wade robson it was a double violation.

I don't think Justin felt what he did was crossing the line as there are pap pics of him leaving hotels and going into hotels with groupies but he never went as far as to cheat with someone who was major in the industry. He cheated with C listers.

I think he used that rationale to claim Britney's cheating was different as she messed around with Wade someone who they both worked with and was respected in the industry.

She admitted to Diane Sawyer that she was upset...she basically retaliated. It does not make what she did right but SHE got the brunt of the blame and backlash as if she was the only one who cheated or even cheated first.

Misogyny is still bad but even back then a man cheating on a woman didn't get as much backlash as a woman cheating on a man. He took full advantage.

I think he relied on her giving him grace and she assumed he would return the favor.

This is nothing new but I do wish he would own up to his part.

rihanna and chris brown had a situation as MANY young celebs in the business have where they mess with groupies as a one off but they don't dip into the industry where you will see them again and again.

Rihanna was hurt and crying at the Grammy ceremony/pre-grammy party because she saw the girl  Christ cheated with at the event.

Justin will never come clean about it, though.

same **** he pulled on janet.

Because that literally isn’t what happened. Britney has actually never said a bad word about him until this memoir. (I know because sometimes I REALLY wish she had!)

Meanwhile he went on radio shows sharing explicit details in exchange for extra radio plays, and he made a video with a literal lookalike spreading a narrative that she cheated. They’re not “both toxic” - he is the one who built his fame off of tanking her public image and reputation.

You people make so many excuses for terrible men.

You seem to forget the part were she cheated too as if that was part of a healthy relationship. Both of them were a mess

I’m kinda torn. Yes, Justin acted like a douche in early 20s. But at the same time… he’s been married over a decade and has kids. Having something shitty he did a quarter century ago resurrected and splashed everywhere harms them too. i understand Britney needed to get this off her chest in order to heal… I just wonder if her therapists office would’ve been a healthier choice of venue.

This is so unbelievably intensive. I can't believe I'm reading it. It's the same attitude Justin and his team are carrying on with... "who cares if I built my career on misogyny and **** shaming you based off of an out-of-context narrative that you cheated you on me when it was really just retaliation for me cheating on you with multiple women?! You were supposed to just sit down, take it, and keep silent while the world continues to think that MY out-of-context narrative is the only one that should ever be listened to!"

You want Britney to somehow "heal" by only allowing her therapist to know the truth while she continues to silently suffer with carrying the burden of knowing the whole narrative that Justin built his solo career around (that had a major effect on her life) was only him giving the tiniest percentage of details because he knows the whole context makes his BIGGEST hit look like an orchestrated takedown that would kill two birds with one stone (getting him that much needed hit to boost his solo career after a lukewarm first single + destroying Britney's reputation). And then he has the nerve to tell her to get over it when it's the first time she's ever been able to explain her side of a narrative that, again, had a major effect on more than just her career, and mind you, he only stopped talking about her just a few years ago (while married to a woman he currently cheats on) when it started to backfire.

Furthermore, it speaks to a larger conversation of women who go through the painful process of abortion and are left to deal with the aftermath alone while the man gets to move on easily with his life as if nothing ever happened. The reality is a lot of you just feel some kind of way about Britney finally being to speak for herself after many of you have become complacent with everyone else trying to narrate her life for her with more than half of the puzzle pieces missing.

Sorry, I didn’t intend to trigger you. You made a whole lot of false assumptions about what I believe. As I said, I’m torn because I want Britney to heal and get Justice for all the mistreatment she suffered. I question whether having her abortion and other traumas picked apart by the world and the media, might do more harm to her than good in the end. I sincerely hope it helps her heal.

WAIT.... THIS WHOLE TIME HER MAKING OUT AT A SPANISH BAR WITH WADE IS THE THING THAT SHE'S BEEN **** SHAMED FOR OVER TWO DECADES FOR???? :rogue:

While speaking to Vanity Far, Crossroads director, Tamra Davis, discussed the film's rerelease and mentioned that a streaming deal is currently in the works.

People would be like, "Hey, how do I watch?" I'm like, "I know it's not available. It's nowhere to be found." I tried to have my lawyers call. And then out of nowhere, I get a call from Sony that after all these years of my attempts and my lawyer's efforts, it was Britney who called to have it re-released because she wanted it to accompany her book launch. So, Sony acquired the film from its original distributor, Paramount, and bought the rights. It will be available for this event, and they are also planning to make a streaming deal."

She also talks about Britney's method acting comments in her memoir:

"The more I got to know Britney, the more I got to put HER on the camera. I wanted to get the authentic version of her. It was really intense when she’s sitting on the bed talking to her father about how she missed out on being a teenager. That’s her crying, telling us that longing that she missed out on everything. "When she’s crying on the bathroom floor of that rejection [by her mother], we had to get to her, really her. She’s not acting in the movie. So it’s so curious to hear that she saw that too, that I was really making her feel and be that character. Because she couldn’t be Britney."

Im not really in the know, are we sure she’s getting full say in these decisions? I wish she would do an interview to clear up confusion

Great decision, Britney! :clap3:

I love Britney, but Crossroads was a boring movie, she wasn't bad, but the whole story, it was not Shondas strongest effort...

ATRL just show how fake people are. When it was the Depp trial, where you had a lot of real evidence against Amber, a lot of people here insisted it was all fake and so on, poor Amber.

Now we have Britney sharing her story, that you can easily confirm it is true and people here with this gaslighting "poor justin" "it is an old story".

It is nice to see people still so rabid about Britney standing for herself and coming back, it shows she still a relevant figure. This is why she will still have more hits. She is not over.

I’m not shocked by this news. They were both young and at the start of their careers so it’s not surprising they agreed to the abortion.

No one except Britney & Justin should have an opinion on the abortion.

Justin was vile for talking about their sex life so publicly.

If I remember correctly all he ever said about their sex life was "yes I did it" in answer to the question of whether they had sex. Not a gentlemanly thing to do by any means but he was hardly spilling intimate details. I don't know how true it is but I've heard fans say that Britney had already publicly talked about her sex life prior to this so it's not like he was even outing her as not being a virgin.

I'm more inclined to think he did wrong by making the Cry Me A River song and video so obviously about her. If Britney's story about the abortion is true then that's highly insensitive but honestly artists capitalise on scandals in their personal life all the time. I know Britney has had multiple digs at him over the years. In the grand scheme of things it's a stupid celebrity feud that no one would care about if Britney's life hadn't crashed so badly and frankly that's down to way more stuff that Justin doing a diss track.
