Why doesn’t Taylor suffer from overexposure?

We don't live in a monoculture anymore. Overexposure is no longer a thing.

Some people here act like she is not one of the biggest victims of overexposure back to 2016 I-:deadbanana4:

The reason why she is unbothered in 2023 is people who live in the place that she get “overexposure” are already get used to her exposure. They know she is always dating someone, they know she is releasing music about her personal life and she has a huge fanbase. Love her or hate her they have already accept her existence in their life cause they know she will always be there. Once you accept this fact they’re also unbothered to “cancel” her or something cause it’s simply waste of energy

because she is the moment queen ugh

It must be due to "Cowboy Like Me" being the best song ever recorded and everyone is just grateful for its existence.

Nothing last's forever and this insane level of celebrity and exposure will be no different. The unique situation Taylor is in, will be her saving grace. She has a huge dedicated fanbase that will always prop her up. She could see an 80% decline and still be one of the biggest artists in the industry. That gives her a huge amount of wriggle room and security. Also, re-releasing her music has been such a great move for her, exposing a newer generation to her work (that was already huge on release). A career and discography as great as hers was not built overnight so it is stupid to think it will fade just as quick.

Because there is no such thing as overexposure or inescapable anymore. With the decline of tv and radio things have become niche/bubble and algorithm based. People get to chose what they want want to appear on their screens. Plus people have very short attention span nowadays.

She is not and she has been overexposed and has faced a backlash multiple times in her career.  First around 2012 and then even more so in 2016.

The reason why things are a little different now is because the world is so personalized that only people that want to see certain media or seek out certain artists get exposed to it.  People that do not care can live completely oblivious to what other people might be listening to.  An example of this is how so few of us on ATRL care and listen to Morgan Wallen's music.  You can't be "overexposed" if people are in control of how much of you they want to engage with.

overexposure isn't real, overpromotion is. aka shoving yourself down the GP's throats when everyone is sick and tired. like jada right now with her will smith campaign.

her success and frenzy is undeniably ORGANIC.

I think it’s partially because she’s already been through it. People already got to go through their “ugh I’m sooo over Taylor Swift” phase once, and at that time she represented something about celebrity and pop culture that she doesn’t now. She was seen as undeserving of her exceptional level of fame and success, and things like her “squad” contributed to a perception of her as a mean girl socialite type of celebrity. Now she represents work ethic, transformation, and her own good business sense more than anything. It’s harder for people to bandwagon onto hating that she’s simply present and popular than it was for them to seize on the notion that she was those things and either undeserving of her success or secretly a conniving snake.

Because she's not the one forcing herself down anyone's throat. She's just doing her thing and people are the ones consuming it like crazy because they like her that much.

She's not performing at events (she's performing at her own shows).

She's not promoting her albums on talk shows (she's just releasing them and then she disappears).

Sure, her appearance at those football games were highly publicized, but it cooled down now that her boyfriend complained about it.

Artists that suffer from overexposure put themselves in that situation. Taylor is smart enough to not do it to herself.

The brilliance of taylor is that she gives you the impression that she isn't actively doing it to herself. Her relationship itself is calculated AF like a bunch of other relationships she has been in.

Because overexposure is mostly a radio thing and applies most to artist who rely on the gp and not a solid fanbase.

Taylor is mostly supported by her loyal fanbase that  enjoy her overexposure.

Partially true. Your last sentence is true but it's not a radio thing.

Rihanna was overplayed for years but because she wasn't doing movies and ads left and right she didn't feel overexposed.

A perfect example of JLO. During the Bennifer era, her music wasn't hit #1 each time and her sales were sluggish but it was mainly the media coverage of her relationship that got her overexposed. She had a nice amount of singles out at that time but they weren't nearly the reason why there was JLo burn out.

Taylor isn't immune to overexposure, and she has suffered from it in the past. She always finds a way out of it and is very smart with her career moves and business decisions. She learns from her past mistakes and doesn't repeat them (at least in her professional life).

I think she is reaching a point where there isn't much room for growth, in terms of her audience. Eventually the size of her fandom will begin to shrink, much like any other dominant artist. It seems hard to imagine when this will happen, though. I don't really think it will be an issue for a while.

Exactly. The only time I don't have the choice to not engage is when I hear Anti-Hero at the mall twice a year.

Because the people that actually consume her music and engage in conversations about her enjoy being constantly fed (and well fed) so it doesn't really matter how people outside of these groups feel

Posted

Nobody outside of her fanbase really pays attention to her like that.

Teens are horrifying tbfh

she is only overexposed to her fans tbh

people outside the swiftie base and who don't keep up with pop music on forums and social media hardly hear about her

People only start to suffer from overexposure when the quality of their output is considerably worse than their standard average. If they continue pleasing their audience I don't see why anyone would say "no ma'am, I'd rather listen to Katy Perry cause enough is enough"

She’s always bringing something new to the table so is hard to get tired of her
