And if people cross the picket line, the strike doesn’t work and the billionaires win :rip: It’s almost like the point of a strike is to be intentionally disruptive to place pressure on those in power that normally is not there.

It's already out there that she was being threatened by studio execs for cancellation, then she would've lost EVERYBODY.  She's a bleeding heart with feet, she was trying to do what was best for her whole staff, not just the writers. Drew Barrymore is stupid rich, she never has to work again. She was trying to get to the best outcome in a totally fkd up situation, she was never going to make everybody happy in this. This has been months of people's  lives.

It's not about the definition of the word. I know how to use google if that were the case.

Never once have I seen this word being used so frequently until it was relevant to Hollywood therefore gaining more exposure. Then the usual chain reaction follows: people who frequent social media for gossip start misusing this fancy word they saw somewhere. It then becomes mainstream and ends up losing all its meaning.

"Scab" is not some fancy word being used by progressives. Literally everyone with a high school education knows what a scab is.

You anti-woke types are so desperate to talk down to and "school" others, but clearly you were the one who skipped class.

Absolutely not, from my personal experience I didn’t strike as a teacher because the children were the ones suffering if I didn’t come to work and they had exams that semester. I get the whole point of striking but unfortunately it doesn’t translate in my wallet or 100 of students that rely on my lessons that I provide. Also, students don’t understand the concept of striking so to them I would only appear as a lazy bastard.

Strikes are supposed to be disruptive :rip:

Well, in my case, I’m not talking Hollywood here, it didn’t disrupt anyone. Therefore, who suffered?

You clearly did not grow up in a family of union workers.

I haven't talked down on anyone. In fact I'm the one being called names for wondering if this word will become yet another buzzword 14 year olds with zero life experience will start using for no reason.

Not you thinking I needed a Mariah Webster link to tell me what it means.

…you just said your students wouldn’t have a teacher otherwise. That’s disruptive :deadbanana4: Teacher strikes are supposed to shut down a school system to force change :deadbanana4:

Is "scab" the new toxic / manipulative / bigot / gaslight / culture etc ? I've stopped using those words bc they make me feel like yet another twitter user who lacks critical thinking and uses whatever new daily buzzword they see on their feed thinking they're smart and educated.

Yes, and?! How is disruption within education a step forward? You’re disrupting HUNDREDS of students and it’s not their fault.

I’m not the only teacher in a school either. There were at least 70% who didn’t strike BECAUSE of students. The rest did and the only thing the school could provide were substitutes.

Their exam dates don’t change considering they’re centralized. The only victims here are.. everyone. Teachers who have to catch up and students who also have to catch up or students that didn’t have any lessons. Hmmm

Since you just said she was stupid rich with a heart of gold, why didn’t she continue paying her staff out of pocket while the strike ensued? Folks wouldn’t have had to go without pay and she wouldn’t have crossed the picket line.

Unfortunately her massive ego got in the way and she couldn’t handle the spotlight not being on her for a few months.

Greedy people, not only they put a hold on +100 people working on the show who rely on the show to live, because they want more money, and now that they got the money they refusing to work? Kick them out, they don't deserve the efforts. Hire new one who really want to work. I swear the entitlement is growing day by day with these people.

I’m not sensitive to anything, don’t you dare. It’s actually the opposite. Sad for you to not see it yourself without someone holding an imaginary bip for you.

Because she's not the CEO of CBS you ******* moron. It's not her responsibility. And writers are not her entire staff. Some of you are savage idiots.

Not everyone is Taylor Swift giving out 500k per person or whatever.

I just hate seeing Drew getting Ellenized. Like, why? Was she bad to the people around her? She was just standing up against a system AKA her network, literally wanted to go on with her show meaning paying her employees.

So you didn’t want higher salaries and liked prices going up? Because that is what your actions are saying. You just said that your school has multiple teachers. What would happen if you all went on strike? If all teachers in all schools went on strike? Anger. Yes, some due to initially confusion at teachers. But then anger at those that employ teachers, anger at the upper classes who do not pay teachers living wages, leading to subpar learning environments for their children.

That is the point of strikes. Because eventually either those in charge feel the damage, either financially or publicly (and believe me, these people care about their PR), and you get a raise as a result.

Or you can cross the picket line, and nothing changes. Congratulations.
