And you’re entitled to that opinion but enough people disagree with you that perhaps you should ponder if you’re writing it off and missing something underneath the surface.

 

Alicia is a great writer but she has other factors working against her success, primarily misogynoir. Taylor is a privileged individual which means she didn’t face a lot of adversity in life, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a skilled writer? Shakespeare wasn’t “writing from a soulful” perspective and Mozart wasn’t composing from a “soulful” perspective either. Words and stories are universal. The themes in Taylor’s music are universal experiences. She can’t and shouldn’t write about the experiences of minorities or marginalized people because she doesn’t understand it, she hasn’t lived it, but that does not discredit or disqualify the aptitude of her writing.

her achievements are talked about daily on this site. what is OP talking about of course there are trolls that have lame insults about "mcdonalds of pop", or "lack of stage presence" , but that doesn't take away from her success that we're constantly reminded of on atrl.

Like Taylor stans don't spend their whole time here downplaying everyone else's achievements using their fave's? The only things I've seen people question Taylor about are her lack of charisma, her terrible dancing, poor vocals, questionable ethical decisions such as her frequent use of her private jet. The general consensus is she's undoubtedly the most successful music act of this time and one of the most successful of all time. This thread sounds like one created to only reiterate her achievements

She can have all the records in the world and she can write songs like Bob Dylan, but she will always be judged FIRST as a singer/performer, because that's what is expected from a pop artist and definitely from someone who is breaking tour records, she's just not great at all, she knows it and we all know it.

By the way, how is Taylor's achievements downplayed? When swifties bring them up everytime they got, even this page I believe is run by one of her fans, multiple moderators are swifties. WTF? Enough with playing the underdog or victim!

Nobody is diminishing her achievements, they're all there for everyone to see and cannot be taken away from her. We know she's insanely successful (not like there's not 500 threads a day that remind us of it anyway). 
 

What really bothers you all is the fact that despite all of this success most people on here still don't care and do not think highly of her, because the reality is she has very little to offer as an artist/entertainer outside of sales/marketing strategies.  
 

Sure, she has some talent on the songwriting side of things (which is highly exaggerated by her stans) but outside of that she is a very weak singer, an even worse performer, has the charisma of a chalkboard and on top of that she has one of the worst videographies out of the main pop acts so you can't really say she's some visionary either.
 

Like, what makes her more special than somebody like Bonne McKee? Taylor swift is a glorified writer who would normally be working for someone else, but instead plays the superstar game despite not having any of the qualities of an actual superstar.
