I think the thing that ultimately trips people up over Britney's social media is that most celebrities - especially most celebrities her age and younger - have a social media team or, if they do their own, are plugged into the realities of social media enough to do the game most do of curating a certain aesthetic and image.

 

Most people want their photos to look "good", defined by how other people who have a big presence have their photos and how many likes they get. If you post a LQ, oddly cropped photo, it won't get likes, so you mimic what others do.

 

Britney's posts basically look like a Facebook grandparent who has no social concept of social media and the kind of curation done where the best parts we want to show others are organized in a very specific look.

 

Her instagram is basically cringe. And it's jarring to see a celebrity be unapologetically unaware they're cringe.

 

But it silly to try and medicalize her because she sees the LQ, oddly positioned videos she films of herself when bored and goes "yaaas *****, you are WERKING, look at that twirl! Let me add another twirl and post it to the gram!" 

She is a millennial not your auntie or grandparent 

 

She is very clearly either going through something with her meds or leaning heavily into substances after her divorce.

 

I love Britney and have been a supporter since Day 1 but for ****'s sake the denial some of you are in is ridiculous. Maybe some of you weren't around in 08 but some people had the same "lEt hEr LiVvVve" mentality when she was on the brink of death.

 

She needs help.

Right after she recorded this she had a glass of wine in her tub listening to Mariah and Janet without a care about a group of ATRLs being worried about her mental state based off a 1 minute instagram post out of her 24 hour day. 

 

I simply love that for her.  

 

“Her fans are delusional!” Her fans aren’t assuming her mental capacity over snippets of things she decides to post on the internet because we have better things to do, but to each their own I suppose.
