Rock has always had ugly men.

Re: The Taylor Swift convo - Taylor is pretty. She’s basically what you’d imagine the prom queen for a white high school in the 90s looked like. She may not have the “blond bombshell” or “racially ambiguous baddie” look, but she’s very much still girl next door pretty.

Yeah. it's about star quality, not attractiveness.

And in some way for example, 'Madison Beer' is so pretty that people use her more as cute instagram it girl, kardashian type of vibe, than artist.

Tate Mcrae on the other hand is cute ofc but she's not famous for being pretty, look at 'Greedy' being top 20 on Global Spotify.

It's all about the material + star quality + marketing strategy

Being hot is LESS important now than it was in the 00s.

Yeah I definitely assumed Madison Beer was just another influencer dabbling into music until I heard her stuff

Morgan Wallen looks like a dirty sock, so. :cm:

OT: Not people in here saying Taylor isn’t conventionally attractive. :rip: She may not be the most drop dead gorgeous woman to ever walk planet Earth, but she is very beautiful, and definitely more than your average person.

I won’t use examples because eww, but the music industry is not as bound by typical beauty standards the way the acting industry is. You can just listen to music without ever needing a visual component. Music videos are less of a thing these days.

But the music industry is worse when it comes to ageism.

He's cute when he tries (with short hair and the clean-cut look)

His most devoted fans are women

Most people are average looking but other elements make them more attractive to people so there really isn't some kind of objective answer to this.

The same men/women people claim are "hot" or beautiful are average or worse to some people lol

If you're a female no. Most of them have a beautiful face and those who doesn't became famous because they were "alternative"

I dont think it matters, especially not now.

women... hhmmm... thats quite a tough one. even if theyre not conventionally attractive they sell their body a lot.

Adele was the last of her kind

Not some of you in one thread saying Taylor get to where she is because of her conventional beauty look and now in this thread call her average and you can easily find some look alike on the street

If she wasn`t an artist, she can easily be a high fashion supermodel IT girl in her skinny days, and then gain some weights and she can be Miss universe winner lol.

I would say it has nothing to do with anything. Most people glow up once they have money anyway. Madison Beer I would argue is conventionally attractive and I think it’s been a damper on her career, while Lorde has a unique face and embraces it and it really helped differentiate her from her peers. Quality artistry and management and everything aside I think being unique is always easier once you get the confidence to embrace and enhance your quirks

I actually think it's more possible now than it was 20 years ago. I notice young people aren't just about conventional beauty anymore.

Even if you’re not conventionally attractive, you still have to have a “look” to appeal to the masses. And this is easily achievable tbh.
