Can Unattractive Or Average Looking People Succeed In Music Nowadays?

Cupcakke and Lady Gaga are less conventionally attractive artists like Megan The Stallion and Taylor Swift. Is this what makes it harder for them despite massive talent?

Beauty is a significant factor in achieving success in the mainstream. A "star" isn't solely about vocals or music; it's a complete package, and desirability plays a role in that package. However, male artists face less pressure to be attractive because society allows them to be seen as "artists" and generally doesn't objectify in the same way they do women (unless the male singer purposefully situates themselves in the role of a sex icon). This can be attributed to misogyny and patriarchy. So, yes, as a female artist, you do need to possess beauty or at least an appealing sense of allure to become a mainstream star. There are exceptions to this rule, and even in those cases, these exceptions cleverly use their unconventional or society-deemed undesirable looks to market themselves as unique and creators of "real music." I do believe that if you aren't conventionally beautiful but still produce great music, you can achieve success, albeit in a more niche rather than mainstream way (think Imogen Heap).

he literally gained a large fan following because girls couldn’t stop thirsting over him. He’s neither unattractive nor average looking.

Let's be honest, most of the massive successful artists are not like fashion model level of beauty, most of them are average but they get a lot done, hair, makeup, styling that made them seem more attractive than they really are, what makes them successful is their talent

yes, all of them have talent, even the most beautiful ones like Rihanna or JLo they are talented asf and they wouldn't be where they are if they only had their looks  but not talent

so to answer OP's question, yes,, unattractive and average looking people can succeed in whatever they want in life, they just need to be able to want it in the first place

Talentless people who can’t hold a note or move on beat are succeeding so I dont see why ugly people can’t

It’s easier for men who are not conventionally attractive to succeed than women unfortunately.
