The vocal abilities of singers, mostly female singers, is often discussed and scrutinized, hell Rih gets more flack for her performances than Taylor despite Taylor being way worse. Literally no one would ever say Rih is a better performer than MJ or Bey as they would with Taylor. Its the fans really. Most people generally like her music here (and has atleast one Taylor album and song they like). 

Its the way her fans hype her out and attack other artists and legends to put her on the pedestal. Its ridiculous how they always circlejerk in threads that attack other artists like Madonna, Mariah, Gaga, Rih even MJ yet when its a thread that attacks Tay, they go on a disliking spree and cry how ATRL hates her and how the mods are biased against her lmao. Like what did y’all expect? 

The virtue signalling is also insane. The way they go back and forth (defending SJW causes when it comes to other artists then suddenly exempting her from it when she’s questioned for it) is pathetic.

But they only see it as “jealousy” of her success when I also call out my own faves in Kpop who the same **** with their albums (Unless we think Kpop artists are organically selling 2-5M copies of their albums). 
 

Her fanbase is full of rabid dogs incapable of her taking any criticism. If you even dare you get attacked with chart achievements compared to your fave as if that’s the ONLY reason anyone could dislike something she’s done.

Isn't it obvious? She's not only slaying our current faves, she's even slaying the legends of yesterday. It's jealously and it's normal to some degree. The irony is that people say Swifties live though their fave, but the people hating on her are also living through their faves and hate Taylor for making their fave (and by association, them) less successful.

Rihanna sounded and danced better than Taylor ever has at this year's Super Bowl even though she hadn't performed in 5 years and was 4 months pregnant. When they said she gets more flack for her performances they meant on ATRL.

Does it keep me up at night? No, but it's definitely grating when you seemingly can't escape it and that sometimes has to be let out. Again, this idea goes beyond Taylor (well, for me at least), she's just the specific topic we're discussing here.

 

At the end of the day, I still like a surprising amount of songs from her and definitely like 1989 and reputation pretty much as whole albums, I just don't think her success matches her output for the most part. I still wish her the best, if not just a little less success.

I like her and support her (mostly because I respect her and enjoy most of her music), but I see why people don't. She seems very theatrical, sometimes cringe and rubs me the wrong way with her personality being self-important (living the Hollywood lifestyle) but trying too hard to be relatable at the same time. It just seems really fake.

 

She worked really hard for her success building her fanbase, touring, working hard on the music, constantly keeping herself relevant in the music industry, releasing songs and yes, she is a very talented songwriter, she takes her job very seriously. Her current competition is also VERY weak (for example Miley Cyrus who doesn't even want to tour when most female musicians would kill to have her audience  )

 

She is not a good or respected vocalist and she can't dance and used to do a basic pop mainstream music (even though she went outside the box with Folklore). That's the issue why she seems to be very overrated.

 

So yeah I like her, but I can see why people don't.
