So what explains the 3 AOTY statues?

Is the Recording Academy scared of Swifties too?

That must be why she sells more albums than any other artist, has more people streaming her, and more total streams than anyone else, because no one cares about her music.

The irony of you talking about conspiracy nerds, then coming up with your own conspiracy theories instead of accepting that your personal taste isn't the be-all and end-all

People who just make good music without all the extra meticulously planned capitalistic fanfare just simply do not get as big as Taylor. I can’t tell if you’re being intentionally ignorant for the sake of an argument or you really don’t understand how extreme fame and celebrity works. so no it’s not about the music, it’s about her public persona.

Nothing I stated was a conspiracy, it’s all truths. She does play up the underdog victim role in every situation. The foundation of her career was built off of songs like “shake it off” “we are never ever ever ever ever getting back together” “reputation” where she’s pushing back at someone who harmed her. people love supporting the underdog in those situations. It’s an extremely lucrative position to be in.

She does purposefully and admittedly have Easter eggs in every aspect of her public image in order to keep her fans interested. And trading beaded bracelets is culturally a childhood activity. Please point me to the conspiracy.

speaking of conspiracy, my favorite Taylor conspiracy will always be her coming in and out of her house in that giant suitcase :ahh:

I also never said I liked or disliked Taylor’s music. For the record there are songs of hers like It’s Nice to Have a Friend and Cardigan that I really like and there’s some of her more childish sounding songs I can’t get into but none of those is about me saying I have good taste. And also for the record I do think being a diehard fan of anyone where you can’t even critique them objectively as cultural figures is very very silly and shortsighted and maybe even low IQ

People calling Taylor overhyped in this thread are so weird. You can not like her, but it's clear that she's more successful than any artist since Madonna, and that's just how it is.

She outsells, out streams, out box-scores all other artists. So if she's "overhyped" then what is every other artist that is less successful than her?

You can have your opinions of her art- but the facts are that she is the most successful artist of the last 20+ years.

Critic?

She sound like a stan who can't stand Taylor eclipsing her faves.

Is that why she leaves me feeling nothing? The lack of grit, the ingredient that made me obsess over Miley Cyrus or admire Britney Spears.

That's literally what the whole article is. A jealous TERF who can't stand how successful she is and just wanted to rant.
