Not #3

I knew it'll end up at #3. Better than another #2.

She just needs to drop a mv with the tour footage and it's a wrap

Are the left wingers who hate taxation and social safety nets in the room with us now?

Anti-establishment isn't inherently anti-rich nor left wing when the idea is that the establishment are liberao pedophile elites turning the frogs gay.

Well probably they just didn't listen to the song properly... That possibility didn't come to mind for you? That's what I assume. It's clearly a right-wing song, yes, and I had to spell it out to them. They probably just saw the song title heard the occasional word and the general vibe in the song and assumed it was left-wing.

Rightwing isn't the sole reason this is going to #1. (If that was the case, then why hasn't any of Tom McDonald's songs blown up like this?) Something deeper is going on. I must be missing something on why this one is blowing up. This clearly doesn't have the controversy factor of TTiaST. Maybe it's relating well to the GP, but this one is surprising to me.

It’s anti-government, anti-DC, anti-establishment. It makes sense that songs like these are selling now given the current state of Americans’ distrust/hatred of our government. This Is America went #1 for similar reasons, although the recent spike in right-wing activist songs going #1 is due in part to a cultural backlash to “elites” (which they perceive the left being).

Kind of glad that he can't be blamed for blocking Taylor now. America's top 4 being white country artists :deadvision:

Someone else probably owns the right over professional tour footage. I don't think she can release an MV

This tweet exemplifes what I mean what I say rural is not a class indicator:

"and you bust your ass to have a nice double wide or small house with a basement, a detached garage, a nice truck and an above ground pool, those welfare riders aren’t your people;"

POOR PEOPLE DONT HAVE THESE THINGS. People on welfare largely don't own houses. People on welfare don't own single family homes WITH A POOL!!! Yes, cost of living in relative by state and a dollar might go farther in some places, but no one is buying property and luxuries on welfare. No one is living a luxurious life on SNAP and Section 8. These people are cosplayers who think rural and non-educated or blue collar are somehow synonyms for being poor despite them being just as cosmopolitan as their suburban northern peers.

They're accustomed to a life of property ownership and having your needs constantly met and no differently blame poor people for changing industries due to technology and their middle class anxieties over their share of the pie getting smaller.

These people aren't "the working poor". They're the Appalachian version of an office manager. :rip:

I think the most frustrating thing about CS potentially being blocked is not the fact that it may not hit #1, but it exceeded expectations beyond a lot of people's beliefs. Many of us thought it would be a cute top ten (which is extraordinary for a 4-year-old song). What's frustrating is that it's literally within a hair's reach, and then this BS happens.

This is quite the opposite of This Is America lol. The song is very much democrats are taking away our jobs and stealing our money with taxes to fund their Epstein island and promote body positivity

They are implying Taylor is racist. It's a troll yet very common for ATRL.

Both are politically charged songs is the point, despite messaging being on opposite sides of the spectrum.

Not him already ahead.. and CS only at #3. The fumble is real

Me when someone asks what Taylor's new album is called : r/rupaulsdragrace

lol at the overreactions here. Cruel Summer has an excellent chance of getting several weeks at #1, even if it doesn't go #1 this week. I mean, a good performance of CS at the VMAs will get it 5+ weeks at #1 like Truth Hurts a few years ago.
