If these politically charged songs keep getting No.1s, can we expect a rule change soon or?

US next please. But who will dethrone it? He is occupying whole top 3.

Fast forward to 2024 elections, songs by rightwing artists will occupy the entire Top 10 of the Hot 100.. :deadbanana4:

Wait - putting a song on repeat doesn't count as multiple streams? Damn

No.

We'll have to see. But something will have to be done one way or another, there's clearly nothing organic about these political songs being #1 out of nowhere.

That seems extremely unlikely. There’s nothing illegitimate or fraudulent about the streams or sales. The charts are just reflecting right-wing rage right now due to the curious circumstances of conservatives flocking around country songs and digital sales in a moment where digital sales hold significant power on the charts (when they happen at all, since for most other acts they’re dead) and country music is growing in popularity again. It’s a perfect storm situation, nothing Billboard can do unless they tried to claim that sales should no longer count - which they would never do.

Sales. We need to get rid of sales for singles. Sales should only be counted for albums.

The song climbs to #1 on Apple Music and #9 on Spotify it's not like it's just sales, it's likely to continue to grow on Spotify.
I just saw it already has more than 9M on youtube too.

Rightwing isn't the sole reason this is going to #1. (If that was the case, then why hasn't any of Tom McDonald's songs blown up like this?) Something deeper is going on. I must be missing something on why this one is blowing up. This clearly doesn't have the controversy factor of TTiaST. Maybe it's relating well to the GP, but this one is surprising to me.

Some people I've spoke to about the song actually thought it was a left-wing anti-rich song. So maybe that's part of it, if they could tell it was right-wing they might not have liked it.

Yeah, i agree. Sales are no longer a representation of a song's popularity anymore.

I'm not a fan of the song but the song has a huge message, I don't know how some people here don't get it.

They really don't hear the OBVIOUS right wing messaging of the song? The fat-shaming? The "welfare" references? :rip:

wth is going on in america?

Maybe we all need to band together Everytime a right wing song goes viral and buy and stream the next closest single to block them all. I hate it here.

No. Well, I think most people get it. But there's already been 3 people where they've claimed that the song is anti-capitalist or something and I've had to spell it out for them why the song is not left-wing, but actually right-wing.

The "minor island" line is the biggest giveaway and also probably the standout lyric.

Are the left wingers who hate taxation and social safety nets in the room with us now?

Anti-establishment isn't inherently anti-rich nor left wing when the idea is that the establishment are liberao pedophile elites turning the frogs gay.
