LoveInStereo Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Depends if she’s willing to sell her dance captain down the river to save herself. They could attempt to spin a bs narrative where Lizzo was also a victim. I doubt she’s gonna give up on everything she’s achieved without a fight
TYMPS Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 hopefully so. her corny ass music is criminal enough 1 3
State of Grace. Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) It's honestly so hard to come back from this especially now that it's reaching the locals and general public. The problem is that this is all against what Lizzo has been preaching and advocating for. Nobody is gonna take her seriously after this. And she also does not fall under the "too beloved that they can get away with anything" group of celebs nor the "too evil that you just smile and nod because it's not surprising" one. She doesn't have a cult fanbase that would stick by her side no matter what and the kind of people who support and listen to her are exactly the ones who would cancel you over stuff like this. The double standards are still really sad though. Men get away with soooo much worse. And I also hate how this is basically making trolls and anyone who hated Lizzo use it as an opportunity to spread hate against plus sized (black) women, drag queens, queer people, anything Lizzo was advocating for basically. Buffy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I don’t think anybody cares or looks for Lizzo, so I doubt this will really do anything to her reputation.

Mikeymoonshine Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I agree with all the posts about double standards. That in no way excuses Lizzo but I do think it's an important convo to have. I find the possibility of these allegations being false to be small tbh cos other people who worked with her in the past are saying the same. It's so disappointing. 2
satellites.™ Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 No she isn't, and I guess you're all too young to see it. She will be dragged to the pits, but the people dragging her ARE NOT fans and NEVER WERE so she will be fine in the long run. 1 1 2
popularmoonlight Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 She can always come back with an apologize anthem
SlowGinFizzzz Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Probably, and I'm not exactly feeling sorry for her. Her whole "being nice" shtick always seemed fake to me; looks like my intuition was right. 1

It’s a PR nightmare for sure. She needs to address it quickly. She might have trouble booking dancers in the future Beyonce already removed her name from the Break My Soul lyrics in a performance. Not looking for the flute-enjoying chanteuse!
Mtjjproducer Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 While I agree men get away easier with allegations this time it’s a bit different. the reason why Lizzo is getting so much hate is the same reason Ellen got so much hate. They made their entire personality and brand of being nice , or body positivity. Men don’t do that. For example Jason Aldine and morgan wallen weren’t black allies so their fan base doesn’t care they are racist. Hell most of their fan base IS racist. Chris brown was never speaking about women’s rights. So when these two get cancelled for going against their brands it effects them more 4 4
réveuse Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 (edited) Yes. Lizzo has created a brand based on acceptance and love along with body positivity, so this will backfire on her severely with all of the lawsuits against her. Also, Lizzo doesn't have a stable and cult fanbase that will defend her through every scandal she has. Edited August 2, 2023 by réveuse 2
Gorjesspazze9 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Yeah it’s being publicized everywhere. Once cancelling moves past twitter, then you know it’s over 1

She's basically betraying her fans with those yikes allegations so it's pretty obvious they will abandon her. 1
Taylor fanboy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Everyone always bounces back but I hope the victims get their justice.

Only one that surprises me is Chris brown still having women followers after beating Rihanna. But most of them only supported him because due to his (at the time but not anymore) pretty privilege 3

UnusualBoy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 If she is then, US is a mess because there are men doing worse things and they're thriving in the charts right now... 1
Bosque Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 No, seriously when was the last time a scandal has actually ended an artist? Outside of people who actually go to jail like R. Kelly As soon as she releases a bop, everyone will forget about this. Same for Ariana Grande and Doja Cat 2

He has mentioned before his disdain for dark skinned black women but they are the main ones that are obsessed over this guy. Men do have it easier. 2
Velvet Night Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 If the allegations are true, I don’t think she can turn it around. What she’s being accused of goes completely against her entire persona. it’s one thing to be kind of an ******* or generally rude (still not right obviously), but it’s another to be this abusive and hostile to your employees. 2
