Is Lizzo truly over?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Lizzo, the self-proclaimed queen of body positivity and self-love, is facing major backlash after being sued by three of her former backup dancers for sexual harassment, weight-shaming, and creating a hostile work environment. The dancers allege that Lizzo pressured them to perform sexual acts, criticized their appearance, and did not pay them fairly. They also claim that Lizzo’s dance captain, Shirlene Quigley, harassed them for their religious and sexual choices. Lizzo has not commented on the lawsuit yet, but her silence is deafening. Is this the end of Lizzo’s career? Will she be able to bounce back from this scandal? Or will she be canceled by the public and the industry?

Unless this all turns out to be false which seems unlikely I'd say yes. Really sucks, I didn't think she'd turn out to be like this. :'(

Yes. It’s hitting national news from major news outlets in loads of countries. And people need a reason to finally get rid of her because most of the GP found her annoying to begin with. :sorry:

Whether if its true or not its gonna put a stain on her career.

Well—yes, considering the fact that her whole image is about body positivity and uplifting others, but behind the scenes the total opposite is happening :rip:

I think so, yeah. Unlike what hapenned with Morgan Wallen or Jason Aldean, her fanbase actually cares about this type of stuff, so she might get the Ellen treatment.

After Beyonce skipped her name on the Queens remix it really became official.

This is so true. If a man was accused of what Lizzo did then people would be talking about it for like a few days (weeks at best), but after that they would quickly move on and stream his music anyways. The double standards are a huge and real problem :shakeno:

Men are thriving despite rape and racism charges so hopefully she will recover from this. It’s a PR nightmare for sure. She needs to address it quickly. She might have trouble booking dancers in the future

If Nicki can survive posting ridiculous covid vaccine misinformation, Lizzo can survive this

Yes, especially because she doesn’t have a core fan base

it remains to be seen obviously but I can see her actually going down over this because it cuts against the core of what her brand is supposed to be, soccer mom-friendly positivity and inclusivity, just like the Ellen situation. If the article had been about Nicki Minaj, no one would've batted an eyelash because we already know she's a terrible person.

I feel sad for the double standards but if the allegations are true, I will not tolerate it. Lizzo needs to be responsible for her actions. I do hope that if it's true, that the criticism and backlash Lizzo gets will also be translated to the men who were proven to be trash, and hopefully soon. These types of situations should never be tolerated and should be raised for awareness.

I do believe in second chances though BUT in these circumstances, it's better for them to be criticised and change for the better out of the spotlight.

Well she was already hated by a lot of people because of her body positivity

Now they have a legit reason to drag her

She is truly over unless there is solid evidence she is innocent

And well Travis Scott did something 100x worse and he is smashing right now with all industry back up

I agree in general about how men vs. women are treated, but this isn’t what we’re seeing here.

Lizzo has specifically cultivated an image around body positivity and self-love. The comparison would only hold if Jason Aldean had previously been known for opposing racism.

We’ve seen this over and over again. The internet is only capable of cancelling people who were supposed to be “woke” or “liberal” in the first place. Trying to cancel Morgan Wallen or Jason Aldean will never work, because their fans never expected or wanted those values from them.

Couldn’t have said it any better :clap3:

One can only hope. Everything coming to light is genuinely horrifying

If the allegations are true then she deserves to get backlash and this is serious but it's still frustrating knowing the double standards of our male-dominated society where men who do much worse can get away it once it's blows over like nothing ever happened.

Yes she’s done. Someone clearly wants her out and she will be when all is said and done. Factor in her fan base are liberal GP members, they will not support her after all these allegations. She’s 100% over and by design.

I liked lizzo. I think she is beautiful and talented asf but she won’t bounce back from this at all. There’s sexual harassment, assault allegations involved.
