The “sell-out” argument for the girls that do a MIX of pop, rap, and other genres is so tired….and her biggest hit (I Like It) certainly wasn’t purely rap. She’s also featured on plenty of POP songs. An artist isn’t confined to one style of music. Edited August 1, 2023 by Black Jesus 2
liquiddiamonds Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Why are some of y'all turning this thread into a Nicki vs Cardi?? Go to the base and create a thread there. We wanna follow updates without trolling and without discussing Nicki. She has her threads... @Ryan, can you do something about it please? it's getting out of hand with the trolling 2

She has her threads... @Ryan, can you do something about it please? it's getting out of hand with the trolling this but I need to tell you something. cardi can do mainstream songs without being a sell out. actually her next single will be a mainstream one but still will have elements of hip hop like I Like It, WAP and Up if that concerns the ones here. she can still feature pop/bubblegum pop songs but she is not aiming to do singing/pop songs herself. the whole question of being a sellout/sticking to your identity/sound/genre is not a discussion. it is what it is. it's not wrong at all to explore other genres and all. I'm just stating there's a price attached to it in hip hop. like it or not, the ones who are doing are paying for it. 21 minutes ago, Daddy said: Offset killed this! The girls set in here and react to all the posts, I don't remember Bardi Gang doing that in the Alone thread when it flopped or the other song Nicki dropped this year that flopped. ANYWAY... #1 most added at Urban (57); 5 adds at Rhythmic. 1 1

Offset's flow is better than it has been in years, and Cardi is... okay shes going a little too fast for her to keep up with at that one part but I like the rest and I love her stupid adlibs especially the last keep it a buck part

My thing is when the numbers go up like yesterday and today (the song rose again on Spotify) the 2nd fanbase posters don't show the screenshot or comment on it...so there's no consistency which means it's blatant trolling and would not make it this far if the roles were reversed. Mods would have shut it down already. Love that the video is holding strong and we knew once tracks dropped from the post malone/travis scott album bombs that Jealousy would at least hold or increase considering travis and post album bomb tracks were the reason it didn't debut high to begin with. It's normal that after a few days those album tracks will fall to the wayside and songs, including Jealousy, would rise/hold. Now Clout was a sleeper hit and eventually peaked top 40 or around top 40 when it was all said and done. Not saying that is going to be the case for Jealously but I think it'll stick around for the summer and part of the fall and they'll need to do something. I think maybe a promo slot at the BET hip hop awards in October and a discount or something as that might be the time where the radio audience peaks and it could get it's peak then. Who knows

It's possible that it might eventually latch on at rhythmic but it's more of an urban song. Rhythmic stations are those stations that are dance driven and play pop, hip hop, r&b, country, rock dance anthem driven songs. Jealously is heavily urban and might not get as much but we'll see

I see the pop coming back on rhythmic while in the last decade rhythmic stayed aligned with urban radio. a pop song would never hit #1, only top 10/top 5 but they heavy rotation was always urban songs (and those who hit the top on urban format). was it sent to rhythmic to begin with? I feel like they're saving place for cardi's next single since it's a mainstream one they will send it right away to pop/rhythmic/urban formats. 1
