I included the self-titled albums that include the majority of the name. So Britney Jean instead of Britney and Mariah Carey instead of Me… I Am Mariah.

Anyways, 'BEYONCÉ' is the self-titled pop diva record to end all self-titled pop diva records for me. janet. went uncontested until 2013 but it had a great run. Self-titled albums always work best as a re-branding, discovering of self or a liberation of sorts in my book and the aforementioned albums go above and beyond to achieve that. Britney and Kylie Minogue '94 are also decent mentions here.

 

The other self-titled albums that work are obviously debuts. Madonna and Mariah Carey are the best in this category. They are solid introductions to the women and what they're about and are capable of in that moment.
