Plssss I'm screaming at everyone kiing at her being "dropped by Capitol for being a flop" only for her to sign with one of the biggest and best labels right now. Huge radio + streaming push coming for her next lead dd.

I just hope she gives us something like IICHL instead of releasing something safe like Flowers and working with Harry's stale and boring producers.

Mega EGGS Sous Vide on all their faces for believing that dumb HDD clickbait article. This deal was likely in the works for sometime (just how HDD failed to mention she already had signed a new publishing deal with UMG last Winter) and they just announced it now.

Why are people dragging her over the 25M movie thing?

Its hard to believe the movie cost 25M when even a lot of Hollywood movies with an A List lead (who requires a huge salary) cost way less than 25M

A star is born cost 36M and had two A-list leads to pay and the remaining cast and crew, location expenses, set expenses etc.

Triangle of Sadness -- Budget $15M

Bombshell (starring three A-list lead actresses) -- Budget $30M

Pitch Perfect -- Budget $12M

Hustlers (starring Jennifer Lopez) -- Budget $20M

The rumours of Halsey's movie making Halsey's label lose 25M have to be untrue.

I have no doubt in my mind IICHH,IWA cost the label some dough, but not to that foolish extreme. The way that HDD article was written was so POINTED and was probably Capitol's way of sabotaging her chances at a good deal when in reality the papers were already signed. This is so funny :rip:

Best comparison I can think of, particularly around the Who Knew, U + Ur Hand time when she had to build herself back up on radio.

Her I'm Not Dead moment is imminent omg:WAP:

It screams the label trying to justify their issues. Capitol had its moment but it's been in decline for half a decade and Columbia is at an all time high. I don't think they make these decisions lightly and they know more than ATRL about music business.

I wish Halsey the best!

Like no label would sign her if that 25M debt was real :rip: worms for brains

The movie was shot abroad during COVID so the budget probably ballooned to be much more than what it usually would be. Irrc, a lot of smaller and mid-budget movies had substantially bigger budgets because of how costly protocols were. Add in an IMAX-centric release (and the fact that the album wasn't a commercial success), they definitely spent way more than what they got back. Through 25M does seem liks an arbitrary number.

I'm not sure how much money that IMAX movie cost, but I did wonder if that was related to her selling her $12 million home in LA.

If the label did lose money, the responsibility is largely with the people that signed off on the project. After all, the label gets to make the most money if the album smashes. But perhaps someone at the label got demoted or lost their job and Halsey got the blame for that too.

In any case, it's good she has a new label. Columbia seem like the best label to be signed to right now.

I just need more musical collaborations with Trent Raznor.

I suspect they might be out and the Columbia will want her to work with guaranteed hitmakers instead.
