People here really believe Olivia herself has anything to do with release strategies? In her second era? If anything the label insinuates anything, but I don't even buy that.

She's owned her masters from her debut era, so I'm unsure how it's a reach to believe she's involved in release strategies. :skull:

Taylor and her team didn't do anything

It was team of the Annie, Cruel Summer itself was interpolation of that song

I'm not sure what you are trying to say here, but Annie only got 10% of the credits for "Cruel Summer".

CRUEL SUMMER
ISWC: T9296703770   Work ID: 898247627
Total Current ASCAP Share: 10%

Jack Antonoff and Taylor are both with BMI, so the 10% ASCAP Share represents the share that Taylor and Jack let Annie have. That's right, they only let her have 10%. It really was a cruel summer.

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/title/Cruel%20Summer/writer/CLARK%20ANNIE?at=false&searchFilter=SVW&page=1

This one is interesting:

DEJA VU
ISWC: T3040252942   Work ID: 911318713
Total Current ASCAP Share: 55%

You might wonder where the 55% comes from. Olivia and Dan are represented by ASCAP and the original credits would have been 100% and split 50:50 between Olivia and Dan.

Their share got cut in half by Taylor and co, leaving Olivia and Dan with 25% each.

Taylor and Jack got 45% of DEJA VU between them and the other 5% is Annie.

Did Cruel Summer really inspire half of the song?

Taylor really made a lot of money for shouting a few words and Annie sure didn't sue for just 5% when most of the money isn't going to her.

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/title/DEJA%20VU/writer/CLARK%20ANNIE?at=false&searchFilter=SVW&page=1

OT - the demand for this new song. Can't wait for June 30.

jesus that’s a large share like even if they wanted credit a 20% would have been enough. this is just sad

Yeah I’ve seen a lot of explanations over this situation, but blaming ST VINCENT for it is a new one :rip: chances are she never even had heard Deja Vu lol She’s credited in CS only because Tay and Jack used her cadence and interpolated her song Cruel on the song. She was not even in the studio with them working on the song.

which is very telling that Annie only got 10% from CS. it makes you wonder why Jack and Taylor didn’t get as little as Annie did for Deja Vu instead of like half of it lol It felt like a huge “learn your lesson and credit your influences first”. I use their names, but it’s basically their teams. I have a feeling this new album will be devoid of any samples and interpolations, just Dan and Olivia writing and producing it as an answer to that. She’s goin straight to her Speak Now

I didn’t care for her music before but intrigued about this one. The first single of her sophomore era following the massive debut, and this single cover and title are giving dark pop, and already huge hype on social media. This is gonna be huge. I pre-ordered the single vinyl for resale price speculation  especially since it’s already sold out in some countries

i was bite in the neck by the one i trusted

the one i wanted, the one i wanted to be

you live in a constant deja vu

by the way you love recycling through your past

cause you are a vampire

you got 9 lives and you keep sucking all your minions dry

haven't you already lived through this era of your life

but you do look cute when you step in the light all bejeweled

cause you're a vampire

And you really think that if someone did actually sue her we wouldn't have known it at that exact moment (two years ago).

okay but in a universe where it’s a taylor diss then taylor releases reputation 2.0 but turns into a bat instead of a snake :wanda: also spreading the message that swiftiedom is a virus, growing rapidly every day

she commented “hehe” on a video about her keeping the purple theme so yeah we’re definitely right about it changing - that’s much more fun than her just switching her layout one random day.

i don’t know tho guys although her team messed up some things last year (which is understandable bc they were all new to this level ) they were so on the ball on keeping her moment going so i trust them. people are gagging about ice spices debut but olivia was doing this with HER own solo music.

although her label team looks the same , the management upgrade is gonna be so great. aleen better book her selena level promo : we want american vogue ! vogue philippines , the writers strike unfortunately messes up our late night promo but i’m sure her team has other ideas

also just looked up geffens roster and she’s definitely the top dog in that label so they’re gonna put the money into this , which we can see with the physicals being ready to go and radio impact being immediate. i bet she’s already paid of her sour advances and marketing costs - such a smart girl to not accept the label that offered her a 10 million deal

anyway very curious about the sound her bc it’s definitely upbeat for the summer. the instrumention is sounds big and dramatic : electric guitar , percussion , drums , piano , melotron which is a very orchestral keyboard seen in progressive rock (think strawberry fields by the beatles intro) , violin and viola , moog ( a synthesiser ) , juno 6 ( another synthesiser ).

she’s expanding on the good 4 u. i hope we can hear the synths in this song bc i could not hear it in good 4

oh yess.. Vogue Phillippines is having a lot of social media buzz lately after couple of their covers went viral. Having Olivia as their first major pop girl cover is a win for both Olivia + Vogue PH. The Philippines will forever adore her if this happens.. :jonny:

Oh wow. The hype is insane, hopefully the song's great and it can do a lot of shake up in the charts.

This could either be the 2020s "21" or a "under my skin" moment :chick3:
