The melody is not bad even if probably just a future nostalgia rejected song.

 

The production ...well Mark Ronson is not Stuart Price. We already knew it, sounds stale.

 

Anyways, who cares? DL3 is coming.

It's nothing out of this world, but enjoyable enough to become a cute summer hit, specially since it seems they going to push it hard. The video is great too. But yeah this better mark the end for Dua with the FN disco sound.

It's a very cute bop. It sounds straight out of Future Nostalgia but that's fine for a soundtrack. I really hope she changes up her sound for the next album though.

why is only the music video available on apple music U.K.? that being said, whew the barbie promo is insane and i’m so glad the video actually had a fun concept. the song isn’t groundbreaking but it’s perf for the movie

you can tell this is on a soundtrack… which i generally dislike about soundtrack songs if that makes sense. the song needs to sound good on its own. i wanna see how this will age because the song itself is genuinly not bad, lets see how it lives on its own

Her team imo shouldn't push this too much, i saw it's even at the top of TTH. When you're big, for someone like her it's so gp builded ,if people became with the "her songs are always the same" (already read this several times today) it's not a positive sign. 

but probably warner needs to push the movie so...

This is cute! I'm kinda shocked at how strong the verses are. The chorus isn't kinda weak though. Maybe the coulda beefed it up with some punchy background/harmonic parts and added another small hook.

I love this. On paper it's super basic and generic, but I think the chorus and arrangement in general is really good. It just screams fun. The "watch me... danceeee" part is sublime.

I don't think she's risking being too known for the same style (or "all her songs sound the same it's boring"). The last time she released a song of this nature was two years ago right? Potion, Cold Heart and Sweetest Pie are slower. This song really suits the movie I think. Plus, Gaga and Madonna kept the same style for a long time and were fine. Though she could possibly switch up a bit with the next record.
