Taylor Swift - 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'

Speak Now was the first album I ever bought with my own money all the way back in 2012. It was when she had those Red Walgreens displays with all her merchโ€”including old CDsโ€”I bought the standard CD. I got it because I had heard of Taylor and knew her music was well-received and remember being floored at how great of an record it was as I played it on my CD player repeatedly. It holds a special place in my ๐Ÿ’œ.

Iโ€™ve been saying for years Speak Now is a pop punk album that was disguised as country :jonnycat:

i've always got pop rock vibes from speak now

It bothers me that the vault tracks also have (Taylor's Version) bc we don't have the originals, so these technically are new originals. But I get why she does it

the collabs feel so random they don't really match the vibe of speak now at all to meย

Speak Now has always been defined by its borderline pop rock sound. It makes sense to have Fall Out Boy and Paramore on it.

ย

I mean Mine, Back to December, Story of Us, Enchanted, Dear John, Long Live, Haunted, Better than Revenge, all of which either possess the high energy pop rock music is known for or use very acoustic instrumentation. Big choruses, massive guitar sounds, big drums, Speak Now is her attempt at pop rock.

ย

Had she had the freedom I just KNOW Mean woudlve had harder instrumentation!

she is smart, she's giving to every project a specific style. The contry album was fearless, red was the singer songwriter album (sheeran, phoebe, stapleton).

ย

Speak now lead single should be Enchanted so she's not selling it to new generations as a country album but as a late 2010's pop rock album, so these feat. choices make 100% sense.ย

You saying this has me worried for Reputation TV,ย  shes gonna be bringing ra ta ta rappers like 6ix9ine and Cardi B :deadbanana2:

She would never collab with 6ix9ine, and I doubt Cardi B seeing as her and Nicki are closer than her and Cardi. I think youโ€™re safe, but I can still see her adding a rap feature on a vault track though.ย

Iโ€™m hoping for Halsey and the Weeknd they have that sultrier sound she could really harness on Rep. Plus the Til the Dawn version of Midnights is an obvious Easter egg to working with the Weeknd (Iโ€™m kidding but a girly can dream)

She's going to throw all the close r&b and rap features she has I can feel it.

ย

I know 101% she's gonna throw in a Kendrick, J.Cole or Future remix. I would've said Drake 200% but after his loser stunt against her during Midnights release week she wouldn't touch him by a 100 ft pole.

No i'm feeling She will give to reputation a rock aesthetic. Like speak now was forced to be country cause for her label She had to be country after a smash country album like fearless reputation had to be max Martin pop music after a max Martin smash album.

ย

Just listen at how i did something bad, don't blame or even LYYMD sound in the live version. Don't blame in particular is turned basically into a pure rock ballad.ย
