Taylor Swift - 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'

Sparks Fly TV gets better after each listen. Do you by chance have the credits for this song? I noticed she does her own backup vocals but there’s also new male harmonies underneath which weren’t there on the OG. The original Sparks Fly in 2007 (pre-Speak Now) had male harmonies in her live concert, so I think it’s pretty cool to hear them in this TV.

The TV version is nearly flawless. The only thing I notice is her vocals are flat when she sings “wrong enough to make it feel right” Right is VERY flat. And it’s during one of the best parts of the song which makes it even more obvious. Her vocals are also flat when she sings softly “take away the pain.” Away is flat. I’m thinking she may have only done a couple takes on this song and Chris Rowe used whatever he could. Other than that, the song is well done and the production is a little less rock and more country than the OG (which IMO is a good thing). I do think she should’ve spent more time polishing up this track considering it’s more known than her other ones.

ugh thanks sis for this! I’m settling in more with the new Sparks Fly after reading this.

There was an oomph with the 2010 version but there is more country timelessness with the 2023 . For the love of God, I hope the studio 2007 version LEAKS.

I can happily say now that I have fully adjusted to the Taylor's version of Speak Now. I mean I still note the small differences. But every track now sounds fine to me and just slightly different from the original. I love it so much. not all, but many of the vault tracks have grown on me too and I did not care for any at first. Like Red for me (though it didn't happen with Fearless for some reason) I think it really is just the initial dissonance of the newer versions of songs compared to the originals and they typically aren't actually not as good or emotional.

Lol yeah! I think the TV is more faithful musically to the 2007 version. The fiddle is more prominent. It seems these subtle changes with Sparks Fly are intentional because all the other tracks on SNTV sound closer to the originals. Sparks Fly TV shines more and packs a heavier punch when you listen with good headphones or in the car. :jamming:

Took all the words out of my mouth! (Except the Red vault tracks hit instantly for me)

Any AM users in here that think the Dolby Atmos makes Taylor's voice sound like it's underwater on some tracks? I just switched it off and she sounds so much clear on Last Kiss and Enchanted. :jonny4:

It has this effect and other negative impacts for most of her discography, for me. It pretty much entirely ruins her country albums, so I’ve had it turned off forever. It was especially noticeable with If This Was a Movie when that came out.

I decided to turn it off after my first time listening to Long Live TV was completely ruined. That bridge :rip:

Yeah, I was kind of thinking it might be because her country albums were older and not optimized for it. But yeah, I was very much in the camp of, “Yeah, the stolen version of a lot of these songs is better,” but now I’m generally preferring the re-recording or not noticing much of a difference. Glad it’s off.

That is the equivalent of the normalized audio on Spotify:gaycat6:  it just drowns everything out, I'm glad someone said to turn it off because it sounds like a completely different album. I think apple has that too but I'm not sure if it comes automatically on like on Spotify

High key. Honestly untouchable, I don’t think she has been successful in recreating its magic, power and command in other songs.

Is there a chance for Back to December to debut top ten? I need it to!!! It so deserves the love that Enchanted was getting. The rightful song won!

And I Can See You is growing on me. It's still too pop and could have better suited for Red or 1989, but it's so catchy!

Guys… I fear Timeless will be my wedding song one day :jonny: it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. The storytelling, the HISTORY in it… idk I just ******* love it :weeps:

BTR is a discovery for me with this re-release. It was the only song on the OG that I didn't listen to, like at all. The re-recording truly elevated the production.

Think finally clicking the Castles Crumbling it's dreamy.

That's okay, I thought there could be. Anyway it's still going to be the highest re-recording to debut, correct? BTD and Mine getting their much deserved flowers :worship2:

My vinyl has been stuck at “shipping label created” for a week now. I’m wondering if they’re delaying shipping the anymore of the violet ones because of the pressing issues. :dancehall:

Haunted was the first Taylor song I felt in love with. It sounds so good with her mature vocals. Does she perform the song on tour?
