I’m curious. Does anyone have any information on entirely self-written albums that have gone #1 on the Billboard 200? I assume there have been some, and I wonder what the last few have been besides the original Speak Now.

Would this be limited to soloists? Or would bands count? For example the album The Fragile by Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor wrote it all but Danny Lohner contributed to two songs but he was also a member of the band.

Random but I was skimming the chart and in 1960 a live album of stand-up comedy was #1 for 14 weeks. What the hell was going on in the 60s. :deadbanana2: Technically that was a self-written album to go #1. :rip:

RED remains Taylor's best re-recording and best album of her entire career. :coffee2:

Oh look a popular opinion!

Still inaccurate though.

I guess it would probably be limited to soloists because of the “one person” thing, but maybe a separate category for all acts in general? Because the band info is interesting too, and opens up a lot more possibilities, I would assume!

The more I learn about the early years of the Billboard 200, the weirder it gets, honestly. Very interesting things were happening in the 60’s on that chart, but it basically mellowed out afterward and looked a lot like what we’re used to today for the rest of its history, with the one huge exception being the absence of catalog albums for so many decades.

ouuu... well I guess this isn't gonna be a permanent setlist addition :dies:

The Beatles were a driving force in the transition to the modern industry. Rubber Soul established the album as an art form in popular music, slowly replacing musical soundtracks, albums filled with cover songs, etc.

"Timeless" really is Taylor at Her story telling peak huh? and with Her matured vocals it just makes the song hit even harder.

The way I never listened to Last Kiss on the original SpeaK Now but now it is my most played song from the recording because of her mature and rich vocal performance :weeps:

These are his SNTV credits:

Ohhh yes, that part I knew. It’s sad he hasn’t been part of any of the re-recordings. I think his harmonies blended really well with Taylor’s. :chick3:

Went back to stolen version of "Enchanted" and you really can't replicate perfection. The mixing is just immaculate I'm afraid. 19katynein and Puta TVs will meet the same fate(bar vault tracks)

Some fun facts about the Billboard 200 when Speak Now TV debuts at #1:

  • She’ll break out of a tie with Barbra Streisand for the most #1 albums of all women
  • She’ll enter a tie with Drake - presumably only for a few weeks, but whatever - for the third most #1 albums of all acts with 12, behind the Beatles (19) and Jay-Z (14)
  • She’ll break two ties with Jay-Z to become the artist with the most consecutive #1 studio albums in general and the most consecutive studio albums to specifically debut at #1
  • She’ll extend her record for most albums to move 500,000 units in a week to a milestone of ten different albums (I can’t even find who second place is for this one, it doesn’t seem like anyone is close)
  • She’ll extend her lead as the artist with the most re-recorded albums to go #1 with three; no other artist has ever done it even once

SNTV is kind of a bigger career milestone than I thought!

Eminem has the second most 500k+, I just don’t remember how many

He relatively recently tweeted in support of her when she responded to a comment from that Gorillaz guy who suggested she doesn’t write her own songs. I don’t think they’re on personally bad terms, so I’m guessing you’re right. There were rumors that he was a Trump supporter or something, but I haven’t seen much about that. While he works with some artists who aren’t Big Machine, I think a lot of his work is with them, so I imagine there are legal issues at play or Taylor just wants to distance herself from Big Machine as much as possible.
