Taylor Swift - 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'

I have minor nitpicks here and there but overall this was a good and faithful TV

If y'all want to hear a BAD rerecording just listen to Michelle Branch's Spirit Room 25th anniversary edition. Like bad, sad, old karaoke  :jonnycat:

My foes and friends watch my reign end
I don't know how it could've ended this way
Smoke billows from my ships in the harbor
People look at me like I'm a monster
Now they're screamin' at the palace's front gates
Used to chant my name
Now they're screaming that they hate me
Never wanted you to hate me

Oh it's up there with her top bridges. :jonny5:

The way she could’ve sold it to us on rep 2017 and it would have been just as impactful, significant, iconic, whew she’s just too ahead of her time. :jonny: A writer by all accounts

My expectations were so high for the Hayley and FOB songs. But my god how awful that FOB song is :skull: I set myself up

I thought we’ve all learned by now that her collabs are almost always worse than her solo tracks.

I think we can all agree that Speak Now > Red and Speak Now TV > Red TV :clap3:

You guys are the luckiest fanbase on any popstar. The way she keeps you guys constantly fed while fans of other popstars are left scrambling for the crumbs our faves gives us every now and then when they come outside every couple of months.

I See You sounds like a mix of You Belong With Me x Mine. It’s cute!

But I definitely see why it was kept

Who do we think these are all about?

CC: just a general idea, just seems a little dramatic for this stage of her career. Maybe she's referencing Kanye situation, or just the media scrutiny about "all her boyfriend" very generally

(Also just want to say how much I love the parallel of starting and ending SN (TV) with a song fantasizing about a relationship, with Mine looking in the future in the relationship to introduce the rest of the album, and Timeless looking in the past to close it all off. HER MIND!

CC has a little more meaning thanks to the prologue/opening notes of the album. She wrote about how difficult it and stressful it was to follow up Fearless since it was the most awarded country album of all time and she could feel people tiring of her and wanting to tear her down. So a good combo of the Kanye incident, negative press/reviews, the pressure that comes with being on top and knowing a fall from grace is imminent, and yes, the media scrutiny of her public & dating life at the small ages of 16-19 :rip:

VERY well said about the through line from Mine to Timeless :clap3:

Someone said Timeless may be purely fictional about her grandparents though, btw. And the lyric video on YouTube is pics and videos of them so it would make sense

And some Swifties don’t appreciate this.

Oh my gosh Michelle’s re-recording was catastrophically bad. I think she was severely pregnant while recording it so her vocals sounded really bad. It’s a shame she didn’t work with her original producer. He used to give her better vocal direction. Her husband was the one who produced the new versions. I wish she would disassociate from him musically. He is a hack.

We really are :chick3: I lucked out hard by falling in love with her music back when I was 13.

For sure - good point, too

This vault doesn't top Red's for me, and I was really hoping for another scathing John song, but I love these and they're a very solid set. R > SN > F.. basically (unsurprisingly) getting higher quality over chronogical time.

I'm not upset LG or DQ didn't make it either, especially DQ (which is so demeaning to Camila, LBR :skull:). LG would have been awesome with final production tho tbh, oh well

Now why did I wake up with Superman of all songs stuck in my head and not any of the vault tracks? :celestial5:

Not Enchanted also suffered the same as Spark Fly:weeps:. They sounded flat. Everything else is pretty much an upgrade (or close to the og) tho. BTD, TSOU, Innocent, Haunted, Last Kiss, Long Live all sound great.

Several vault tracks should've been on the OG album over Innocent & Superman
