I like the 2D comparison. Rowe did what he did to SOG, on Enchanted. Turning Nathan's atmospheric transportive 3D production, to a flat 2D plane :rip:

Alright, I listened to the album. All I will say is I’m gonna cleanse my ears with a listen of Speak Now (SV) before moving on to the vault tracks. :skull:

Back to December, Never Grow Up, Innocent, Better Than Revenge, Ours and Superman were all pretty good but not substantially better than the originals, unlike everything on Fearless TV. At the same time, I thought the other songs were completely butchered with bland and flat production. Nothing about Enchanted sound enchanting, and nothing about Haunted sounds haunting. It sounds like she’s singing over some instrumental she found on Youtube. She has some good vocals moments (except for Enchanted TV) but the mixing kind of ruins it by default.

Can we all agree that Girl At Home (Taylor's Version) is the worst re-recording so far :giraffe: the modifications were so odd

Vanessa Hudgens at Home was ROBBED of her resurgence amongst fans

Never Grow Up really is the biggest glow up of the album. Truly the least expected thing that could happen (other than Innocent somehow becoming good). :jonny5:

Omg She doesn't even do the little gasp after She sings "these are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon, I was enchanted to meet you"

No no no

Ahh imagine ever listening to this version instead of the original. Could NEVER be me

First impressions on the re-recordings:

The vocals are really crisp and beautiful and the production is great imo. But ngl I can tell the differences in all of the songs. She’s missing the emotion in her voice, which ultimately gives the original version that punch that the re-recorded version is missing. This is the most apparent for me with the new version of Haunted, it’s not hitting as hard as the original.

Thoughts on the vault tracks:

Electric Touch - definitely transports me back to the pop rock of the late '00s. Emo teenage me would have been obsessed with the song. Their voices work so well together. This is a bop, I love it!

When Emma Falls in Love - This is a sweet little song. It sounds like an early 2000s romcom song. The ending verse made me smile so much!

I Can See You - I love that opening guitar riff, this is my favourite just based on that alone. I love how funky it is! The bass is so gooood. I need her to turn this song into a whole album RIGHT NOW!

Castle Crumbling - this song is just really beautiful. Her voice works so well with Hayley’s and the lyrics are a gut punch. I can see why it was kept in the vault, it feels so personal and vulnerable.

Foolish One - I like these lyrics, but it feels like the weakest vault track lyrically and sonically. But I love the outro, it is sung so beautifully.

Timeless - This is such a stunning way to end the album. It's so full of hope and love and it just makes me so happy. I can see this as a wedding or proposal song.

Many of the people in my Swiftie gcs don't like Sparks Fly (TV). I feel like I'm the only one. DOES ANYONE HERE LOVE IT?

Wait, I'm checking out the lyric vids before bed

Timeless has photos and videos of Marjorie and her grandpa, how cute :chick3:

Hold on and make it last
Hold on, never turn back
(Hold on) You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
(Hold on) You are the best thing that's ever been mine

Overall - I’m happy

Regarding the original tracklist, it’s a bit of a mixed bag…

Vastly Improved:

Mine

Dear John

Innocent

Haunted

Last Kiss (she NAILED this one)

Long Live

Good enough:

Back To December

Enchanted (Chorus is great… verses let it down)

Better Than Revenge

Didn’t capture the same magic:

Sparks Fly

Mean

The Story Of Us

Never Grow Up

Posted

When you think the chorus is winding down but then She delivers another "So even in a different life you still would've been mine we would've been tiiiimeless" oh it's cocaine

I listened to the album with a streamer I follow and she cried so hard during Timeless. She showed a picture of her grandparents at the end and in the back her grandmother had written “Why did you leave so soon, Dear? I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle it”. And she keeps the picture in her wall :cries:

The truth some of you Enchanted (SV) akgae’s won’t admit is Enchanted (TV) is vocally and productionally superior and that’s just the way it is.

I woke up at 4:30am to listen to this and I just got to the office. Don’t know how I’ll be able to concentrate after listening to Timeless. It might be one of my favorite tracks from her…

That's too sweet stop. I can't wait to watch reactions, reviews, etc. I love getting to re-live first listens through others for moments like that.

Last Kiss doesn't work either. The vocal can't be replicated. The production is not as crisp. Nathan Chapman and the Lord are undefeated.

Ours and Superman seem fine… but I was never big on the originals.

I suppose Superman sounds a bit better…

Regarding the Vault songs, I kinda wish she just swallowed her pride and added songs which she had co-writers for… (see Drama Queen).

Timeless is beautiful, When Emma Falls In Love works too… but the rest? Yeah, I can see why these were left on the cutting room floor.

The way she had to refrain from giving us any new breakup songs because her fans are incapable of behaving themselves. :rip:

That's true. I wanted Break Up songs but she said NO!
