The recent bill passed in Utah regarding trans people in non-collegiate, non-competitive sports literally impacted 1 student. One. One trans girl out of the entire state of Utah was enrolled in a primary or high school sports program. If you're crating legislation to disenfranchise ONE INDIVIDUAL, there's a clear ******* answer.

Communion Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 This shows the way Democrats are abject failures whose liberalism being removed from material understanding means they continue to hand Republicans the keys to disenfranchise people they claim to protect. The whole rule proposal is the Biden admin going - we'll find a compromise: we'll argue there's *some* room for *selective* exclusion of trans people in non-professional sports, and doing so will get us to banning blanket bans, assuming Republicans will be reasonable people and will only put REASONABLE requests. Meanwhile, this is what Republicans are going for, with the help of right-wing Democrats:

Vermillion Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I’m reminded here in Virginia of the Loudoun County sexual assault case that incited a trans youth panic with the same talking points of JK Rowling on M2F - a big factor in Youngkin’s win. As for Biden, I’m not surprised, so I’m therefore not disappointed because I wasn’t expecting better. This is clearly a re-election strategy under the perverse theory mentioned on this forum already that they can afford to tack right on this issue because Trump and DeSantis have gone further right. Folks here can argue that attempting to parse/separate say, trans adult employment, bathroom use, and trans minor hormone use from this is gaslighting (wrong term, eh) because these restrictions are a slippery slope, etc. I don’t disagree, but the White House wants to have it both ways - recognize trans folks in most other arenas but this one. I don’t agree with that logic, but that’s what they’re thinking. Trans high school athletes are a cross section of about four different culture wars, a cross section that Chaya Raichik and Chris Rufo seem to have won for the time being. More for me to say but I’m going to wait for more statements given the fallout.
