You're quite literally lying. Nielsen Soundscan is freely available online.

Because of You sold 2,000,000 units (Billboard citing Soundscan) and Hollaback girl was recently updated with certs for 5x million. Mariah stands at over 6 million with 4 million of that being pure. Mariah was ahead of BOY in pure even before recent updates by RIAA and Nielsen, for example.

People using daily streams for 2005 songs. Curious how many streams are other 2005 hits doing compared to WBT.

This thread is dumb. You can't compare a physical/digital era song to a streaming era song it isn't realistic

I like WBT more, but I think Shallow has had a bigger impact in pop culture, so it's a bigger classic. I also notice Shallow is popular at karaoke bars unlike WBT.

HERO, Through The Rain, Against All Odds, Can't Take That Away From Me, Without You, My All

I've heard these songs in Karaoke Sessions here in the PH

For an ACT that was MASSIVE in the PH.. WBT and TEOM Era was just not patronized.. WBT was/is EXTREMELY LOCAL

WBT:

788 million - Pandora

572 million - Youtube

453 million - Spotify

are you seriously saying this when @stevyy literally posted all of the receipts which prove that it had global success. hearing songs in karaoke bars isn't a measure of success. they're both huge singles that came out a significant amount of time apart, so this entire comparison is odd and unfounded.

Since Mariah is the queen of entire universe who is bigger than Santa Claus, I had to vote for WBT.

But Sha-la-la law is more remembered is for sure.

To me, it's still a mystery how Shallow became a hit. It sounds so outdated. :rip:

that's irrelevant. if you would bother to read it's chart statistics and sales instead of idiotically commenting when you're clearly wrong then you'd know that it was a global success, despite what your small minded mentality may lead you to believe.

WBT made TEOM a global success... it sold over 2,6 million copies outside the US. Her previous albums (Glitter and Charmbracelet) sold way less. It's not often that someone can survive two flop albums in a row and then return with a HUGE success.

To me, it's OK that the MIMI era was more successful in the US than globally... but it doesn't mean that it wasn't successful globally with Gold and platinum certs in countries such as UK, France, Germany, Japan and Brazil.

The big comparison is always the one versus Confessions on a Dancefloor...

USA:

2,000,000 - COADF

7,000,000 - TEOM

Europe:

6,000,000 - COADF

1,250,000 - TEOM

They did the reverse in those parts of the world.

What an era or what two great eras in general.

you're literally just picking and choosing what you're reading. did you bother to read this before mindlessly replying like you do in every thread you comment in?
