WBT did not even sell 4M downloads worldwide. :rip:

US best digital downloaded songs  in 2005:

1. Holloback Girl

2. Since U Been Gone

3. Boulevard f Broken Dreams

4. Mr. Brightside

5. Beverly Hills

Mariah was N/A.

Girl, are you trolling or actually this obtuse. Nielsen + sales figures and certs are easily found online.

The one that didn't rely on radio to be a GLOBAL smash

This is so dumb. Imagine being delusional enough to pretend like We Belong Together relied on radio. Y’all can’t defend your faves without lying or acting obtuse.

WBT is obviously the bigger classic. Monsters still being the most delusional stan base is quite historic esp after all those years of their fave's underperformances with her solo materials.

It's WBT duh, but Shallow is a classic too

At least both are bigger than Toxic :clap3:

WBT may have been bigger at the time, but it has half Toxic’s streams now…

Good god only on here would I find anyone say Shallow was the bigger of the 2 :deadbanana2:

There will be absolutely no-one comparing Shallow to anything else 18 years after its release unlike WBT so :coffee2:

actually only in this forum full of 40 years old americans someone can think that 2005 dated hit, there is not even in the top 10 of the most streamed songs of the 2005, right now is bigger than one of the biggest ballads of the century, 5 years and still making numbers.

Not people saying "WBT" accusing the others of being delusional, the nerve  :ahh:

Fortunately, there's a huge world outside the US where nobody knows what's a WBT in 2023 :toofunny3:

Not @Taeyong creating threads to compare gaga songs with some other random song and then being mad he didn't get the result he wanted :dies:

Well, good luck to them for their next Gaga setup/drag thread!

OT: Shallow is a global cultural phenomenon and is pulling ~2M daily from Spotify+YT combined 6 years later. A timeless classic.

Shallow is the bigger song, but WBT is by far the better song.

comparing a 2005 song with a 2018 song....

and chart positions do not make a song classic.

WBT is classic in many ways - not just due to massive chart success. it was one of the biggest comeback ever of an artist that was considered dead and a total joke. her career died by 2005 and her previous attempts to resurrect it failed. the melody, the video, the last fading note...so many things scream classic.

not many markets were willing to play an rnb ballad by an 'aged' female from 90s. WBT is so much bigger and important than sum of its parts, let alone its chart positions.

Shallow is not a classic… ? It feels too soon. It is also much more recent than WBT lol so the comparison does not really makes sense.

All of this can be said for Lady Gaga as well.

Everyone thought she was done with ARTPOP.
But god… She came like a wrecking ball with A Star Is Born era.

The Movie, The Album, The singles, The Awards season it was all 10/10.

The did not miss a step.
