But then again, their age is never mentioned in the movies. Back then, 21yo people would absolutely look like a 40yo person.

we're talking a few decades, not the middle ages, sis.

here's some oscar winners in decades past who were in their 20s; they look 40s to you?

So who is Pedro Pascal gonna play? Sirius Black or Remus Lupin?

The huge success of Hogwarts Legacy has obviously spurred this on, which makes me wonder why they don’t do a new story like the game did.

I know these studios only care about money, but there's no need to reboot a series where the last instalment was only 12 years ago. I mean there's a lot they could've done better with the original films (Some of the child actors growing up and becoming pretty bad adult actors the last few films and Ralph Fiennes' hammy performance in the last two films for example) but nothing that's enough to warrant a brand new series.

Warner Bros have the right over the Harry Potter story. They don't necessarily need to pay her every time they make a new movie or TV show based on her story.

So what you're saying is that you suggest we find alternative ways to enjoy new Harry Potter content just to make sure we didn't directly participate in her financial gain.

I think this will be similar to the His Dark Materials series in that it will be a pretty faithful adaptation but the outcome will be just ok.

There's a reason films and tv series make changes. Yeah they can't fit everything in but also a lot of things that work well on paper can be pretty boring when adapted for the big screen...

What I'm saying is that WB can make a new Harry Potter and JK won't get paid for it. They have the rights to the story.

Yes, they look 40yo to me.

Especially the second and 3rd girls.

The movies and everything that comes with them (cast, sets, looks, etc.) are ingrained in the collective consciousness of the world so this is just not something I see people accepting and sticking with in the long term if not for the spectacle. Of course everyone's going to tune in at first because it's still Harry Potter and even while flopping it'll probably have higher viewership than most of what's on TV so that'll satisfy HBO, but my guess is it would become fandom-carried and culturally irrelevant rather soon

That being said, the movies being heralded as some impossible-to-meet standard for perfect adaptation is ridiculous and I assume due to years of familiarity with them - Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix in particular are, like, really bad :sorry:

And everyone should readjust their expectations for the re-casting cause I imagine in-demand actors with something to lose won't be lining up to invest what will likely be 10 years of their time to a project that could absolutely have a negative response across the board and be a PR nightmare with Rowling's inclusion

It seems like everyone is doing a reboot or remake these days… but these actors are going to be dragged immediately if they don’t hold a candle to the originals :gaycat6:

Maybe not DOA but I fear the fans will destroy the cast.

They already destroyed DC, now they want to destroy Harry Potter.

Sounds like an expensive woke flop. The movies are perfect and they dont even feel dated. the effects still hold up even

This.

We won’t be watching. This flopping hurts HBO and JK at the same time double win :clap3:

Hm, I guess Warner Bros' cashgrab character Sirona Ryan won't be making an appearance, based on the creators behind this adaptation. I guess we're going back to the old faithful Dumbledore queerbait they've milked for 15-20 years, instead :bibliahh:Get those  Rainbow Dollars HBO.

Fans wants something new not this. It’s way too soon to do a remake of the books. They need to wait at least 10 more years to do this.

The gp is still to attached to the OG cast and not just the trio.

I get HBO is disparate for money but this is not the answer.

the video game did so well because it’s new Harry Potter content and it’s an original idea. Sorry but the new cast is going to get dragged hard.
