Why Is There Such Hostility Towards Vegan Activism?

Recommended Posts

You're probably focusing on the hate side of veganism.

For instance, I follow these vegan related youtubers. I'm not even a vegan, but I genuinely thought their content is fun and entertaining, and how they can turn non-vegan foods into vegan. Plus their comment section is full of positivity and sharing tips on how to make the recipe better, etc.

You guys acting like the world is against is you is so annoying like...

it’s actually really ironic that meat eaters act EXACTLY the way they say vegans do and shove it down people’s throats

Posted

Because their antics are annoying and their behaviour exhumes self-righteousness which I personally dislike. Gaslighting meat-eaters with buzz phrases like "you're a killer!!" won't achieve much.

The user who made this thread asked “Why is there such hostility towards those who only want animals to live in peace?” but goes around saying stuff like this… wow. Discussions about veganism with meat-eaters will never go anywhere if this is how vegans speak

that’s what i’m saying! like i said i definitely know some vegans irl, and they’d NEVER talk to me that way :ace: i don’t wanna involve myself in online discourse where i’m automatically labeled as like a bigot or a criminal, i need mutual respect for it to feel productive

I don’t respect the decision to eat meat. I don’t always feel respected by meat eaters. I’m not going to apologize for being right.

Meat eaters are not able to face their own demons and realize they are literally murderers.

Acting like we’re personally and individually killing the animals, please…

you’re not gonna apologize for calling me a rape apologist after triggering me? this has nothing to do with the fact that i may or may not eat meat, YOU called me, a victim of abuse, a rape apologist for criticizing a manner of protest that negatively effects people who are most likely underpaid. think about that for a second. that’s hurtful

I think it mostly comes from a place of knowing that what they're doing is terrible and the only way they know how to deal with it is by lashing out. Therapy is recommended.

oh, here's the tea

well you telling me a few months ago that I'm a rape apologist for criticizing the milk pouring method of protest triggered me and made me think of when i was actually raped so :michael: there's definitely ways to be less aggressive when debating yknow! you could've approached me criticizing it without jumping to that

YIKES.

This is exactly the problem, vile behaviour.

no idea, but I fully stopped having lunch with my coworkers because of the things I have to hear when they notice there isn't any meat in my plate. :deadbanana:

both parties should let everyone eat wherever they want :skull:

Exactly. I’ve been criticized by so many people.

I'm so sorry you were treated that way. :heart2: People who preach too much are often the ones who are monsters. Ignore them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. Stay glowing, king!

Ultimately, veganism is good and there are many benefits to it, but the grandstanding and intensity that some vegans can approach people with is off putting. Yes, cows and all other animals don’t deserve exploitation and cruelty that the meat industry uses, but people are struggling to feed their families, pay bills, and make ends meet. They’re not really gonna give a **** about a cow when they can barely survive themselves.

And vegans who make people feel bad about that aren’t really helping their cause. Learning about veganism and it’s benefits takes a lot of time and mental energy that people aren’t willing to spend most of the time, and being called an evil meat eater when you’re already bogged down by the perils of capitalism and daily life is just going to cause people to hate you.

thank you babe  yeah i think if you’re tryna preach peace, expand it to people who are traumatized too yknow?

Idk the whole spilling milk on the floor is annoying and useless like those feminists who would draw vaginas with chalk

Posted

Part of it is Americans growing up thinking meat needs to be the main course for every meal. Part is meat eaters not wanting to think too hard about it because they know it’s wrong deep down.

Posted

honestly I think most people don't want to face the reality of industrial animal farming and don't like that vegans bring it up. easier to act holy about milk being wasted than criticise the way the cows are treated in the first place

Posted

Cause deep down most of the people know that it's a more ethical way to live, but they don't want to make a change so they lash out on the people who remind them of their selfishness

Humans dietary needs will consist of meat unless you heavily supplement which is unrealistic for nearly everyone who tried to be vegan.

On top of this, a lot of vegan activists are extremists that paint veganism in a bad light.

Case in point: calling milk drinkers "rape apologists" like the OP of this thread has in the past, aimed at literal survivors of rape.

the last page is a huge issue why.

i'm all for veganism but comparing

the consumption of animals and

animal products to things like

SA is gross.

vegans also do the same thing

with the consumption of animals

and slavery :deadbanana2:
