Nashe Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I finally know what my problem was with the pre-releases, they were album tracks !!!! nothing more. they sound amazing as a part of a whole but not strong enough on their own. Magic / High Road / Lighthouse was the way to go in terms of singles.
xDiamondx Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 I adore FKOH but when you have a plethora of options like lighthouse, chemistry, magic etc, I'd objectively place FKOH as a #9 or #10. That's because the other tracks are wayyy too good to not take up the top five slots.

It’s unlikely we would ever see her, or that she would read this board. Plus it’s a discussion board about her music. Saying it’s sounds like a demo isn’t exactly out there. Her team vaguely monitor the kce and pulse which are both much more dramatic with directness about the music and have said worse things than “it sounds like a demo” (which is something a lot of people say - it’s clear the song was close to being very good that’s probably why it’s so disappointing). it’s hardly a “pick me” situation either when it is a relatively commonly held opinion in the stan base. There will naturally be a lot of attention on the song at the moment given its remix, few radio spins and the notion that we’re likely to be choosing a new single soon. It’s under a microscope therefore warrants a discussion in comparison with the other tracks, where it falls flat for lots of us. In any case, it will just be a situation of agreeing to disagree about what we think about the song. Personally I think it would make a poor single choice for reasons already explained, but I’m happy for it to do well if it is chosen. And let’s just say I’ll hold my piece on the song from now until a fair bit further into the era.

Please don't mention that horrible soundtrack. It'd make more sense as a PXP track tbh

Mine still feels single worthy (for me at least) but all the other pre-releases definitely work better in the context of the album rather than on their own. Which isn't to say I don't really enjoy them, but as you said they sound better as a part of the whole

schnetzka Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 "Favorite Kind of High" is probably my favorite song on the album. It just puts me in a good mood.
LovaticSwiftie Posted June 26, 2023 Posted June 26, 2023 FKOH is one of only a few single-choices and it's definitely not the worst song on the album lmao. It's actually Top 3 with Lighthouse and Rock Hudson.
