Honestly it was semi smart of her team to release multiple songs first cuz the album already has a quarter of a 100 million streams. And most of those songs may not have gotten many streams if not released before album. Do the 24 mil count the total units during first week sales?

How much was the Mol?
Tylerbv Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Not great numbers, but I’ll take it based on playlisting. I’m expecting her to do a bit better than Carrie did last year. Hoping for 45-50k.
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted June 24, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted June 24, 2023 Gonna need a few more listens to solidify my general feelings but it’s a nice album. Although I have to admit that the last three songs are probably my least favorites right now on the record Also, my expectations for Rock Hudson were through the roof but the chorus is such a let down (still great verses and a fine song overall) However, Lighthouse continues to grow on me more and more but Chemistry, Skip This Part, Mine, High Road, and Magic are true standouts. There isn’t a song I outright dislike like Go High from MOL, Second Wind from PBP, or Einstein from Stronger but it also doesn’t have the highs of MD like Maybe and Sober or some of her other albums. I guess I was also expecting a little more vulnerability, some of the lyrics sound like she’s consciously withholding (which she has every right to, just an observation I had while reading through them.) All in all a pleasant experience. I know this might come across harsh, but I promise I love Kelly and I’m sure I will continue enjoying this record in the coming days and weeks. It’s still too fresh to have any dead-set opinions for me. These are just some general thoughts that are still changing. 2

Oh yeah, she said that a big part of it was because she's a mother now that she needed to only focus on what was already out there, media-wise. Some things you don't need to air out regardless of your personal issues in the relationship, is her point. 1
SeeingStars1515 Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 I think my top 3 are High Road, Skip this part, and down to you so far
publikcitizen Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 I am warming up to the album a little bit more. I think this is how I would've done the singles rollout. 1. down to you (spring release with a music video) 2. favorite kind of high (summer release, belasco video and a remix with a rapper like cardi b since they're both on the same label) 3. lighthouse (fall/winter single with a music video) 4. chemistry (spring release, vegas live video) 1
publikcitizen Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Curious to see where it will chart on the BB100. Obviously a #1 would be awesome but I doubt that can happen. Hopefully a top 5 debut would be ideal. As long as it's not outside the top 10 then I would consider that a win.
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted June 24, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted June 24, 2023 Come to think of it, I think Me would've worked better as an album closer. It works as a thematic conclusion (she's let go of the pain and sought solace in a newfound independence) and sonically feels like a more fitting finish than That's Right. Thots?

youresotoxic Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 the album is cute... I liked a good amount of the songs. but horrible single choices besides Mine 1

JCON Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 She picked the worst songs as promo singles didn't she?
Admiral Bobbery Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 The more I listen to it, the more That's Right works for me as an album closer. Just think of it as an epilogue to the story where she's reflecting upon everything on a sunny beach and finally letting go of everything. Also, given how many times she references waves and the ocean on this album, ending with a song set at the beach kinda makes sense.
Afterglow Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 This came out? Where is the promotion? Kelly is still one of the biggest names out there in pop, they didnt think music videos wouldve at least sufficed? Goodness. I think some members of ATRL would make better management than who these artists work with.
HEAVYONIT Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 This album is REALLY good. I was shocked at how much I liked it. The random song dropping strategy leading up to the release was an epic fail because it felt like she was dropping random puzzle pieces that didn’t fit together and now just WOW. Lighthouse still knocks me on the floor. Magic is THAT *****. Wasn’t gonna buy a copy and just steam but I bought a copy too
Mellark Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 To be honest, it's a nice album as a first listen but I feel it will be a grower (I see this potential) but I need more time with it. It seems to be her Star-Crossed era with the theme of heartbreak but the standouts to me are Chemistry, High Road, My Mistake, and That's Right so far. The management and marketing should've been invested more because her daytime talk show wouldn't be enough as marketing.
OhMyAlf Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 I haven't listened to anything else since this was out and I'm just as hooked on it still, the punch of Chemistry, FKH, Magic, lighthouse, Rock Hudson

I don't think she wanted music videos because they wouldn't convey the emotion feeling of the album the way that you would hearing it in a live setting. She could have made some simple music videos for the album they don't have to be super fancy or elaborate.

Phoenixstar Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 if skip this part aint in your top 3, then something is wrong with y'all tbh
butterflymimi Posted June 25, 2023 Posted June 25, 2023 honestly cannot stop listening to this album since it’s release (like everytime she releases lolz) it’s such a grower but down to you and rock hudson are on REPEAT. both are smashes and i’m obsessed
