Nefertiti0 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) Ed Sheeran recorded 14 tracks with Aaron Dessner for - ("Subtract"), but that’s not the end of Ed and Dessner’s collaboration. Ed yanked three tracks from the album that felt too joyous, and realized they were the start of something else. “It was very quickly seen that we were making two different things,” says Sheeran. He went on to write an entirely separate second album with Dessner. He’s already mixing that one, though he’s not sure when it will come out; he wants to give – a chance to breathe. “I have no goals for the record,” he says. “I just want to put it out.” “This is how it feels to be in love, This is magical“ he sings on Magical,” from his second album with Dessner. Another Dessner song, a likely single, has a bright “Solsbury Hill” feel: “Saturday night is giving me a reason to rely on a strobe light,” he sings, amid more meditations on grief. A third Dessner production is a surging Bruce Springsteen-inspired track called “England.” Ed Sheeran has five more albums in mind using another category of symbols, one he’s not ready to share, at least on the record. There is yet another completed album waiting in the wings, a collaboration with reggaeton superstar J Balvin. The album is all ready to go, complete with already-shot videos, but with no release date in sight. He plays a track that bridges Afropop and reggaeton, with Burna Boy joining him and Balvin. Another Balvin production is a collaboration with Daddy Yankee, with Sheeran singing a hook between rapped verses; yet another is a slower reggaeton song where Sheeran actually raps in Spanish. “I wrote it in English,” he says, “and they translated it in the studio.” There are collaborations with Pharrell Williams and Shakira as well — turns out Sheeran has been writing for her next album, too, because why not? https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/ed-sheeran-new-album-subtract-tour-cover-story-interview-1234694319/ Edited March 21, 2023 by Nefertiti0

vuelve88 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Pharrell Williams and Shakira? That sounds like a She Wolf leftover. I hope Shakira did not try to pass off a 13 year old demo.
305 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 So there's 3 albums coming? A math album A folklore album And a reggaeton album?
Forevermore. Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Ed Sheeran will truly not stop until he's collaborated with the entire industry
vale9001 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Shakira and him are serving summer radio smash . At least in europe it's gonna be huge. Even his song with camila was big here.

Bloodflowers. Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Sheeran has been writing for Shakira? OMG finally a good English song (since You Don't Care About Me) from Shakira is coming
vale9001 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) His collaborative album with 896 featurings after like just 3 years is doing 1.2M streams daily. Totaly forgotten when you count how many fan bases should listen to the songs. And how 2-3 songs were big hits in 2019. His last album has produced 2 big hits but it totally collapse when you see album tracks average streams from his first 3 albums, basically 60% of all the stream is from first 2 singles. So i really don't understand what he is trying to prove. It seems to me he is not really showing people really loved any kind of genere from him (like "i can make everything gold and classic, also a reaggeton album with j balvin")... so he should focus only on this dessner era imo. That's the kind of music people really like from him, the rest was just throw down into their throat and they have forgot about it. Edited March 21, 2023 by vale9001
samsclubPRESENTSavam Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Shakira has the worst taste in collaborators.
Selegend Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) it's so interesting how ed's career direction shifted completely he wants so much to be omnipresent around the music industry anyway, that's not a bad thing. just interesting Edited March 21, 2023 by Selegend
Rev8 Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 Damn Shakira really wants to have that global domination it's the best time tho! so good for ha
Twilish Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 (edited) Am i reading wrong or is he saying the Bruce Springsteen lite and fun tracks are not on subtract?! Edited March 21, 2023 by Twilish
