I mean, I respect people's opinions but for me the vast majority of songs she has re-recorded are clear improvements compared to their predecessors :jamming:

If This Was a Movie getting an absolute upgrade :wanda:

all of the girls lyrics are embarrassing :gaycat6:

I'm sorry but Speak Now OG was very badly overproduced. The volumes and balance are all over the place. It's just nostalgia people cause you're used to hearing it a thousand times

Never heard of this. @ksmith??

I’ve definitely never heard of this either. I’m not saying it’s false but it seems mighty odd to me that Kohls, of all stores, would randomly have an exclusive mix of Eyes Open? Maybe their speaker system just popped off and it sounded more heavenly than usual lmao.

so is Taylor trying to pass off ITWAM with the Fearless cover as lowkey being part of the Fearless era? Or is she out of new covers? idkdik

Didn’t think she’d bother recording the hunger games songs since they aren’t under the old label. It’s a complete random group of songs especially the lover reject.

ready for eyes open with her mature vocals :wanda:

"Safe & Sound" was released under Big Machine in 2011.

I like the OG ITWAM better especially her younger voice in the bridge and last chorus but I like the TV better for the others.

I think there is something to be said for her younger, less "perfect" voice on her earlier albums and how they really do help convey the emotions of the song (to an extent nnn, OG Change remains a kii). I've thought about this before in other contexts, but I think one of the main appeals to Taylor for some people is the fact that she ISN'T a world-class vocalist, and that she is writing and singing these songs because she NEEDS to get these things off her chest, despite her strength being more writing-based (and to her credit she has improved her vocals immensely over her career). It makes her songs feel that much more personal.

Granted yes I know that also sounds like stan delulu nonsense lmao, some of TayTay's vocals are definitely a choiceT, but I don't think her voice is her main draw the way it is for other artists. Which I think is also why Taylor invokes some of the most insane haters too whose primary draw to an artist is their voice.

Moving forward, I’m no longer commenting after one stream, with the night before repeating the OGs.

These TVs are EXCELLENT. :jonny5:

She always proves me wrong and I love it!

OTH and newer fans post 1989 don’t understand the charm Taylor had in her country-pop crossover days. None of the OG fans cared that she didn’t have amazing, Mariah Carey vocals. We fell in love with her music because of the emotions she was able to convey in her songs and the way she kept us engaged in her storytelling. Her songs read like a diary with experiences many of us could relate to. The OG fans also grew up with her, so most of us who graduated from high school and started college could relate to “Fifteen” and “Mine.” By the time RED came out, most of us experienced terrible break ups, hence why All Too Well was such a sleeper hit over the past 10 years. Much of her fandom today didn’t get formed until 1989 & Reputation era. People who complain about her vocals in her younger days and trash talk Debut have no understanding of the magic she created in that era. Her songwriting spoke sooo clearly and connected so well with the OG fans. The newer fanbase’s focus is misplaced these days with charts, “vocals”, etc. Taylor has been the whole package since Day 1. I loved witnessing her growth from singing in neighborhoods to small stages to arenas to stadiums.

The Taylor Versions sound great because of her new mature vocals but the raw emotions from the originals are gone. It just sounds like she’s singing karaoke to her own songs. While I appreciate the new versions, they are just carbon copies. And the TV’s not living up to expectation has nothing to do with “nostalgia.” You simply cannot capture lightning twice in a bottle. The emotions are no longer fresh. The only ones she’s managed to re-create well (capturing the emotions) in my opinion is The Way I Loved You, Forever & Always (piano), Untouchable, and All Too Well 10 minutes.

That live version is the most superior one. Love the choir addition at the end.
