Trump being forced to be a write-in candidate will clear the path further for DeSantis to win. i think the opposite. it’s a very easy name to write in, he already has the recognition and his cult while siphoned is still a significant portion of the current GOP base today. if people in Alaska can elect Lisa Murkowski via write in, the people in Alabama/Mississippi can and will write Trump
Vermillion Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 Just now, qurl said: i think the opposite. it’s a very easy name to write in, he already has the recognition and his cult while siphoned is still a significant portion of the current GOP base today. if people in Alaska can elect Lisa Murkowski via write in, the people in Alabama/Mississippi can and will write Trump Republicans normally fall in line, Democrats normally have to fall in love. Alaskan political culture, particularly Native Alaskan voters in tribal/rural areas who don't answer to anyone if they can help it, who were THE key behind Lisa's win, are a glaring asterisk that aren't comparable to anyone nationally. But Trump and his pull isn't comparable to anyone nationally ever either and is also an asterisk, so it comes down to what wins out ---- 1) The exhaustion and psychology behind not bothering to do a write-in and sticking with the name on the ballot (which there are studies confirming, believe it or not) or 2) For the first time, those groups breaking+taking the effort to do the write-in because they're pissed. 2016 Gary Johnson/Jill Stein on steroids. My money's on the former.
TheLastChord Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Trump will beat De Santis easily. Why would the GOP base go for a traditional politician acting like Trump when they could just get the real guy? It'd be different if the pool of voters were GE voters. But that's not the case. RunUpDoneUp Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Republicans have no heroes, everyone sucks so much. Truly, the party of regression.
Communion Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Sounds like Biden should stop being against M4A in order to differentiate himself from Trump & DeSantis.
Puttanesca Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Haven't prominent Republicans already started turning on Trump? This is gonna be messy.
Icarus Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Watching him lose the primary will bring some joy I suppose
Sergi91 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 The best part is regardless who wins the primary… Trump and DeSantis can’t run together in the general
RockStarShit101 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 lol trump is so winning the GOP primary this man doesn't stand a chance
SoldierofLove Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I swear if the Republican ticket is Trump and DeSantis… Someone please tell me that’s impossible.

Vermillion Posted March 15, 2023 Author Posted March 15, 2023 Big get for Ron. I've been cynical about Trump's indictments but maybe he knows something we don't....

Not legal. Both live in the state of florida. One would’ve had to change their address by the end of last year.
19SLAYty9 Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 DeSantis is going to flop nationally. It will be a campaign of 2016 Ted Cruz proportions.
