No there were recent law changes to ensure that if he won he could still preside as governor

Very difficult as both parties have been making it difficult for candidates that lose the nomination late in the primary process to get on the ballot as independents. Setting dates for filing deadlines early enough to not give a losing primary contender time to file  for a ballot spot. Many states have also tightened write in candidate procedures to make it difficult to run that type of campaign.

@qurlBingo - was just coming to say this. Trump being forced to be a write-in candidate will clear the path further for DeSantis to win.
