orange22 Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 I keep up with her and barely knew this was coming so not shocked it’s not smashing. but it’s so good way more interested in the album now

Not her live from Rio dropping a few tweets, IG stories/posts, and discord messages lol. It'll build up with the R&B audience. Excited.
monologueNacafe Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 I can’t picture radio playing this. They’re better off just making this a buzz single
iConic Legend Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 This is mostly a skip for me, I usually dislike woah is me type music. Just can't get into this. Treat me and have mercy we're way better. I do like the image clean up though.

sxmescudi Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 i didn’t like it at first but the video and a few replays made wonders for me

After 4 tries.

Chloe & Colombia need to go ahead and buy Cry for Me from that other label and drop it as the next single. Reshoot the video with hot choreo and a big dance break choreographed by Sean Bankhead or Laurianne Gibson. If Chloe doesn’t come with a Crazy in Love uptempo statement record, she’s roasted. People are not feeling her after the back to back missteps with Surprise & For the Night. I feel bad because she’s improving artistically with this song. It deserves to get a lil Grammy nom next year tbh. Edited January 28, 2023 by Flare
allforyou Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 I listened to this yesterday and... meh. I don't get what's happening with her, Have Mercy was a BOP and I really liked Treat Me too, I haven't cared for the singles after
Space&Time Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 This song is soooo good. If you’ve ever been through this, you just know. This song is gonna touch a lot of people. Even if it’s not THE single that brings in the album, it’s a great era opener to display her talent and capability. This is R & B song/performance Grammy winner material.
Cbreezy Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Actually love this. Very aware that her diminishing returns commercially ARE concerning, but this does strike as the type of song/release that genuinely does work as an "intro" or "reintroduction". If it catches a wave eventually, great. if it doesn't, great buzz track. IMO, she really really needs a big guest feature. Ala what Cardi B was to Wild Side. Someone so big that it's undeniable that it's their popularity powering the success of the collab. I say that because I trust Chloe's work ethic to take the baton from there and be fine from then on out. Labels are annoyingly fickle too. So, if she can catch a wave with SOMETHING, I sense they will be more...invested.

This isn't true, some artist start out really bad. then suddenly blow up out of nowhere. Rihanna is an example of that, some others to. I believe eventually she's going to get some decent moderate succes. but I don't see her being anywhere near beyoncé or Rihanna's level ever. At least consistently..

Theshigo Washidu Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 This sounds so dated. Plus what's with the repetitive use of the N-word at the beginning of the song? She erased her whole social media and posted a new aesthetic leading people to think that she's coming with something new-sounding only for it to be the same try hardness that people were dragging her for.

I agree with everything in the post but the bold especially is what I wanted to say in my previous post (but I don’t wanna bring up another newer girl 👀 in Chloe’s thread). She needs a moment like that then everything will get back on track commercially. The quality is there but we need a commercial hit now. Too many misses and Columbia is going to pull the plug. Labels are so nasty nowadays.

iKnowles Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 Welp. N/A on Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes. I would've hoped it could've at least equalized with 'For The Night''s debut (455k streams) since she should've ideally had some extra eyes on her after the album announcement. But there's no need to sugar coat it atp. If the public didn't catch onto her former songs that were very intentionally created in hopes of mass consumption/virality and those still flopped, it's delusional to think the GP would suddenly give this song a chance. Good luck to her.

Good luck to her. She needs more promo and playlist reach. it’s sad to see her go out like this cause 340K first day is abysmal. It’s a really good song though, so I hope it came make it. At least with a radio push as @EarStyle said. She shines when she performs live so a toned down acoustic performance will make some waves for sure.
