people saying it’s suspicious or random :ahh:

it’s everywhere in all social media people are making fake stories and they’re going viral. tweets and tiktok’s about it that are all making noise.. this is just honestly what happens when the gp is invested

if Flowers were "rigged" with that Spotify autoplay thingy to pull the number:

1. it wouldn't have boosted her catalog + When I Was Your Man + Noah Cyrus catalog in such a significant way

2. it wouldn't explain the success on every other platform

3. it is only suspicious because it's Miley's first digital smash in the streaming era and we had a track record of her previous singles, but such out-of-the-gate super smash has happened to Olivia Rodrigo before

The girlies that left Miley are looking like real clowns now, I always believed :jonny5::jonny5::jonny5:

It's something that y'all need to understand, TALENT ALWAYS PREVAILS :jonny5: Period, there's no other way around it.

Imagine the implications this has for Tinashe :duca: Everything can happen :duca:

Faith restored!

I don't think he was outright dismissing it, more curious. It's one thing to be number one on various platforms, and then it's another to rise to 15m on spotify on your 4th day, especially considering the song started at much less. Apple/itunes don't provide numbers so I get the Tiktok comparison. But as @MrLovett mentioned, the youtube views are matching the huge spotify numbers.

The song has only been gaining traction on every platform, with its AM positions nearly perfectly mirroring Spotify in all countries (and AM is much harder to do well on).

A lot of people didn’t know the song was out on Friday, but word of mouth, viral TikToks, and increased playlisting have shown to be working.

Miley has been discredited for years from ‘only being known for Hannah’, to only relying on controversy, and now we get another stan theory to explain away her success. She’s doing well because she’s been an undisputed star since 2006 and a Spotify algorithm is not gong to be the thing responsible for yet another career high.

this. the song is too mediocre to get suddenly massive like this. but it will end up a quick little single so

Yes, because “it’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me” is unique and groundbreaking :rip:

literally this, it’s gaining because of word of mouth between the general public. some people have an obsession with wanting everything to be fraudulent when it’s not their actual fave that’s smashing

If you wanna blame the Spotify algorithm, then tell me why Sabrina Carpenter's Nonsense is not pulling 15 million globally :rip:

Yes, it keeps increasing day after day. Until yesterday it was a close battle with SZA, but now Miley is clearly in the lead.

Finally, a sequel to the Bangerz era :jonny:

Flowers has much bigger GP appeal than Midnight Sky, it's that simple.

Plus who doesn't love a diss track these days?

The point regarding AM is that a position doesn't tell you a number. A No. 1 could be 11m or 18m streams... So although we don't know the lead it has on AM we know the lead it has on Spotify is huge. Very few artists have ever reached 15m on their 4th day, but plenty have topped Apple Music...

She's not just doing well, she's absolutely smashing it out the gate with one of the biggest openings of all time. We objectively know the new algorithm has randomly given songs their biggest peaks in years, so I don't think querying whether the new algorithm makes it easier to have higher peaks is dismissing how popular the song is, but people are extremely hyperbolic on this site, so everything is black or white.

Ultimately the YouTube numbers are the one piece of data that puts that query somewhat to rest, but we'll have to look at wider trends with future releases
