Rejected yet again as he was in 2015. He must feel like he’s wasted all of these years waiting for another opportunity just to be embarrassed on the national stage again.

Who knows what will happen but I’d love to see the pictures of his **** being cleared out of the speakers office before he’s had the chance to occupy it

So they adjourned for the day? I guess they will try to whip the votes behind the scene tonight and hope to get McCarthy enough votes for the 4th round tomorrow

This is where I'm getting the greatest schadenfreude out of all of this.

Of course it'll be a different story once the Jordan caucus defaults on the debt, but we'll cross that bridge when we reach it.

They all voted to go home because members had family with them to watch them be sworn in; no one wanted to make them stay. The GOP is definitely going to have to have a come to Jesus moment because the Never Kevin people aren't going to budge

Here's the official announcement. They're back at Noon tomorrow EST for Round 4.

In the meantime (likely late into the night per several journalists on Twitter) Team Kevin will be whipping votes (even though he says he won't).

Who knows what Gym Jordan will try to do after his floor speech :ace:

I also think Democrats jumped on adjourning because they heard the rumblings that McCarthy's group was hoping enough Democrats would leave so he could win with a lower threshold.

Apparently that's what Paul Gosar (anti-McCarthy) was asking AOC of all people: if Dems had any plans to make it easier on KM :rip:

"213 votes- one more than Hakeem Jeffries"

lol Lindsey Graham WISHES! It's 218, meaning McCarthy is nowhere near the threshold, and Jeffries is considerably closer

Yeah there were reports that some Dems were getting bored so I’m personally glad they left. This whole situation is so crazy

Fun fact: Going to third ballot or more for Speaker has only happened 11 times in US history.
