what the hell happened to this group. They had Wa Da Da, had some success then completely changed their sound to be a generic z list group

You are right but this is their Japanese comeback. So it doesnt matter

their views are just fine. They just don't come from the mvs but from audios, performance videos etc

this week OMG is #11 on youtube global chart and Ditto #28

Not YouTube views? In the age of TikTok? :bibliahh:Never change ATRL

Anyway I'm glad k-pop (and the whole world) already moved on from those inorganic mass replaying of YouTube MVs to snatch the "most views in 24 hours" or something :rip: So pointless

Sales and Spotify streams >>>

I've always wondered about this :deadbanana4: Like, when BP was dominating, they had everything. Album sales, youtube views, spotify streams, social media, etc.

It makes no sense to me that they consistently sell more albums than they get likes on youtube :skull:

But their social media engagement on their instagram is high (some posts have 2M+ likes showing they are popular)

If you look at google trends they aren't close to BP in searches (or even TWICE) so its like bizarre to me they're smashing so hard when no one really knows them.

BP is being searched 6x as much but NJ is snatching their streaming records on spotify and stuff :deadbanana4:

I don't think it's a conspiracy theory or anything, but I do think HYBE is definitely pushing them on streaming services because they are doing so abnormally well there without having any recognition (especially in the west).

For a group that's under a year old they've already had 3 songs on TTH :deadbanana2:

It's so interesting to watch their success even as a non stan because it's so bizarre

You wanna know about something truly bizzare? Selena Gomez is the most followed musician on instagram, crazy, right?

There must be something really inorganic about Taylor and Miley smashing on spotify because they're only mid on instagram, I bet

because it's only natural for every single top artist to top every single metric

Are you guys watching videos  and consuming kpop content on Dailymotion or Vimeo or something? :rip: Let's not act like YouTube isn't the biggest site in the world in terms of everything including music. Not every country or person in the world uses Spotify (including myself), but every country and every person in the world does in fact still use YouTube daily.

Spotify has only 431M monthly listeners while YouTube has 2,1 billion :rip: So it's very normal for artists to have more YouTube views than Spotify streams.

This is not true for every single demographic out there though. There are certain groups of listeners who don’t consume YouTube at all, and looking at how NewJennies were marketed from the beginning as a “non-kpop” kpop group and with a slight push on the playlists like TTH, it’s not abnormal that they found their core audience or listener to be someone who uses Spotify and Apple Music more than YouTube, idk how that is impossible to comprehend. Not everybody does extremely well on YouTube, and while it is still the biggest platform for videos out there, it’s been declining in viewership for years now if you’re not Latin artists, smash Indian/Bollywood/Tollywood songs or a few kpop artists who will leverage their huge fanbase like BP.

Without Spotify we would've never have known or guessed that NJ are the top 4th gen group right now :deadbanana4:

Like other groups like BTS, BP & TWICE smashing on Spotify makes sense since they are also smashing on YT and are way more balanced. The fact that songs like "Ditto" and "OMG" still can't surpass the views that "Pink Venom" got in the first 12 hours, shows how weird it is :beatfreak:

And if we look at other 4th gen groups like IVE, LE SSERAFIM, SKZ, GIDLE, ITZY etc., their YT and Spotify stats are matching way more and are more balanced than NJ?

A group that is pulling 3M streams daily on a single song on Spotify should not have problems with YT views no matter what excuse you guys are making. Especially in Kpop since YT and MV's in general are a huge part of Kpop.

And their performance videos might have more views, however they are still tragic and the like ratio is even more worse with only 600K likes or something :skull:

Following that logic, I'm shocked some "4th gen leaders" can barely chart in spotify top 200 when almost every 4th gen girl group (with half their views) are doing way better in spotify.

One of hype boy performance videos has almost 80 million views (without ads) :deadbanana4: if you want to believe everything I say it is an excuse, that's ok.

How does this work, is it combining everything such as MV's, audio, performance and everything else that is linked to the song, and showing the combined numbers of each song?

yes you can check it here https://charts.youtube.com/

Posted (edited)

Again people don’t stream their mv but they stream their audios. OMG audio has 50M views. NJ mv are just too long and they have to many versions.

For example

59M views video length 6 minutes

55M views audio 2,27 minutes

however I agree let’s stop acting YouTube is irrelevant it’s not in some countries it’s the most used platforms especially in Korea. :cm:

Are we really discussing youtube likes right now?

They're smashing on Melon, they're smashing on Spotify, they're smashing on Apple Music, they're smashing on Youtube Music because they keep gettings PAKS

The bigger the fanbase = More YT views

It's been said they have a lot of GP interest, what's not clicking?

I mean NJ was pushed on Spotify and we know it's true looking at their playlist reach (public data) and how Hype Boy was the first 4th gen song added to TTH (it charted lower than After Like and other songs at the time on Spotify charts).

But I don't think they are all payola, like they really are popular right now. Just that their stans claiming "organic" and "not lifting a finger" is very out of touch

They only added Attention if I'm not wrong.

Nobody cares about YT views. The world is streaming music on Spotify and that’s why we now see way more Kpop songs with more streams than views on YT

The big problem is also when people are trying to downplay YouTube as if it isn't a big deal, and trying to take away what other groups have achieved over there (Twice for example), and only claiming that Spotify is relevant since their faves are not doing that great on YouTube. (Though TWICE is also smashing on Spotify, but you get what I mean)

YouTube has overall been in decline when it comes to streaming music, even westren artists are seeing a decline in music video views.. it really isn't that deep when the Attention audio on Youtube has 104million streams and Hype Boy has 134 million streams.

Also we have LEFT the era of mass streaming on Youtube and other streaming services.. even YTC didnt break 100 million in 1 day :bibliahh:

Episode 3 is looking great. You know, I don't mind aespa doing this season thing with new villains and stuff but... Let's keep the title track listenable with relatable lyrics and just use a b-side (a really good one) for the lore stuff and promote both songs, ofc the b-side in a lower scale. Also, they need to stop being so late with the episodes
