There's D.O. you need high notes there's Chen, You need visual, hell, Suho is there + great vocalist, you need another lead vocalist??? There's literally Xiumin who has proven to be more than capable in CBX. If you focus ok talent, there's literally no need for him lol. This is literally the dumbest take in this thread. You're saying Baek is unnecessary cause he... is an all rounder? Growl, Overdose, Call Me Baby, Love Me Right, Lucky One and Monster are basically built around Baekhyun's vocals especially in the choruses. It's like saying you could have Destiny's Child without Beyoncé, Pussycat Dolls with Nicole, Girls Aloud without Nadine etc etc... Baekhyun is EXO, there's a reason why they never attempted a comeback whilst he was in the military. The fact you seriously think Xiumin is anywhere near as close to Baekhyun in vocals is SENDING me. If anyone is unncessary it's Kai, cause he cannot sing and is tone deaf. Edited December 7, 2023 by Spark 2 2

Like, it's hard to find people who genuinely look human and it must eff with not only their sense of self but fans' sense of self too. But it also just makes everything feel a bit robotic and stilted. Which I get is how Korea likes it, but it's like damn, put the humanity back in Kpop please from top down. You shouldn't be on your fifth face before you hit 23. It’s not only their faces/features I came across this funny aoa/sistar video, and I couldn’t help but notice how idols had a darker skin across the board, even the ones who were “lighter” still appear darker than the average idol today. It gave me a moment of realization of how big the issue is and has grown under the radar. Whitewashing was already a problem in Kpop (mostly in mv’s and photoshoots), but now seeing an idol with a natural normal korean color is quite rare. The lighting everywhere they go and whatever idols take/do to lighten their skin are a MUST. It’s like idols wouldn’t be caught dead flaunting an ounce of pigmentation now. vs 2
kataraqueen Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 It's so funny how everyone is so whitewished when ALL the s3xy icons are / were tan All it took Kwon Yuri was having black hair and a tan to become one of THE s3xy it girls for 2 years Lee Hyori was tan in all of her iconic eras Sistar, THEE hitmakers of the 2nd gen, were tan it's not a k-pop issue btw. It's just the Korean beauty standard

Like why have sexy concepts died? Why are there barely any tanned idols debuting? It's just so weird when you consider how Lee Hyori was such a huge force back in 2003..fast forward to now and all those attributes she had are at an all time low in Kpop. You would've thought that with Kpop and Korean culture becoming a bit more westernised that this wouldn't be as much of a problem. Edited December 7, 2023 by Cotton 2
