It's unfortunate that Korea still sees older women as lower or not worth it, when they can have a lot to offer. 

 

This is one area where China is ahead. The show "Sisters Who Make Waves" (which Jessica, Fei, Jia and Amber have participated in) is to celebrate women over 30 and to give them a new chance to refresh their careers to the public. And it is hugely successful with very high ratings. Much more than anything similar, seen in Korea. 

 

It's so weird in Korea how between 30 and 50, women, especially singers and actresses are not seen like anything, then all of a sudden after that they are seen like legends.

Honestly I feel like the song just wasn't it. Pop was IT & the mv was a moment. Jihyo's solo peaked w teasers and it was all kind of downhill from there :/ 

And honestly it's really sad. Twice shot to mega stardom with her voice as their signature sound and yet she & the girls were criticised for their singing DESPITE the fact that it was obviously the absurdly high range of the songs that was the real problem. She has always been a great singer & dancer and always gives it her all WHILE being (by all accounts) an excellent leader and yet she still receives (relatively) little love from fans. Not to mention the years of hate she endured for her weight/musculature and skin tone. Things have improved a bit over the past few years, mostly due to pity stans, but it would have been so nice for her to experience at least as much support and success as nayeon in her solo efforts. 

 

Unfortunately kms just wasn't it :/

jihyo might be more talented than nayeon but she doesnt have the charisma

YG are going to burn all their artists, forcing this manufactured bad boy / girl persona upon them to the point of them hating their job. Bigbang and Blackpink talked about it, how they often felt miserable and trapped.
YG don't train artists, they train dogs. Good for her and her parents for looking after herself

As someone who really disliked Wendy's visuals before all the surgery (fkd up thing to say I know - but some people's faces just bother me idk why), I think she looks incredible now. I think she's just overdoing the lip filler a little, or maybe it's settling strangely who knows. But overfilled lips are having a moment w idols rn so I wouldn't consider that a bad sign necessarily~

Yes, their boy group is debuting in January and their Girl Group might debut second half of 2024 or early 2025.

charisma wise i'd put jihyo WAY above nayeon, who definitely has smth special, I just wouldn't necessarily say charisma?

 

and kms was definitely a sexier song than twice typically does (for their titles) so that should have fit w her darker skin tone (just working from korean gp's perspective here).

 

the whole thing actually reminds me a bit of seulgi's solo - everyone was so hype and then it felt like a let down when the actual song didn't give what we were expecting.

To be fair, we should wait some days to compare. Only Itzy and NJ were able to debut in melon in less than one day

Baemon debut was surprisingly tolerable, but I've always enjoyed the basic yg formula - just hated everything else lmao. Crazy how they're making that one girl literally BE lisa tho.

Comparing Nayeon and Jihyo albums is completely useless. 

 

Nayeon not only had the public appeal, but she also released what I call the Kpop 101 album. All of her songs were based on Kpop smash hits of the past, but also very cohesive. Any girls who had some appeal with GP would be pushed as an IT Girl with that album. 

 

Jihyo's album on the other hand, while still good, she was not girl known for that kind of image or sound and was definitely not an IT Girl to back that album.

Also I missed Sica's beep beep release but it was cute, would be infinitely superior in korean or even chinese because those lyrics were... embarrassing.

God Jihyo got a music show win, an encore and sold a lot of albums, not everyone has that, she can be really proud of herself

Tbh, Ive and Le Sserafim debuted a day after they debuted. And with how low UL Melon’s now, should’ve taken Baemon shorter time to debut.

Let’s see if they will make it tomorrow
