Aespa:

Debut: Nov 2020

1st comeback: May 2021

2nd comeback: October 2021

3rd comeback: July 2022

4th comeback: Sometime in 2023. February 2023 and still no update.

Red Velvet:

Debut: September 2014

1st comeback: March 2015

2nd comeback: September 2015

3rd comeback: March 2016

4th comeback: September 2016

5th comeback: January 2017

Like, what's not clicking :deadbanana4: Red Velvet already had 5 comebacks AND they went on to have 2 more in 2017 alone. aespa hasn't even gotten a 4th and they're 2 years old.

SM is not giving aespa frequent enough comebacks. Period.

Gag it

The way STAYC went from the flawless Run2U to whatever they are releasing now...it's like watching a kpop group dramatically fall down a flight of stairs. :deadbanana2:

Just a side note, but Reveluvs dragged SM for being cheap as hell with Red Velvet. They constantly got cheap videos and cheap one version physicals. SM wasn’t really putting a lot of effort in most RV comebacks.

Aespa isn’t being given unfair treatment because SM hates them - I think we’re just seeing that SM struggles doing the 18 version albums with tons of promotional content that has become the norm in K-pop. The special performance videos and SMCU episodes aren’t feasible for 2-3 comebacks per year. They either need to expand SM or stop trying to overdo the content if they’re so overwhelmed.

Oh wow there’s so much movement in this list lately I love it. IVE top 3 already and still gaining a lot :clap3:They might snatch the most streamed 4th gen song on Spotify soon. Starship better not mess up this momentum next cb I swear.

LSRFM too. i know this doesn’t include K/DA but I understand why.

Poppy is fine for a taste and not a swallow. Like, Run2U is a SONG. REPEAT listens.

I can only stand the word poppy over and over again in small doses.

Sweetie this list isn't 100 % correct since it doesn't include EVERY SONG by 4th gen groups.

I literally just posted the actual top 100 earlier, but nobody cared :chick3:

Anyways NewJeans, IVE and LE SSERAFIM really shook the industry and are smashing on Spotify. "Love Dive" will soon surpass "God's Menu" and I can't even be mad mad cause "Love Dive" is one of my favorite Kpop songs of all time as well. Though it won't be able to reach #1 and surpass K/DA since "Hybe Boy" will surpass all of them and be #1 for a short time before it get's surpassed by "Ditto" and "OMG" and this way NewJeans will occupy the whole top 3

This is probably what the top 10 most streamed 4th gen songs will look like for now at the end of 2023: (Looking at their weekly streams)

1. Newjeans - Ditto

2. Newjeans - OMG

3. NewJeans - Hype Boy

4. LE SSERAFIM - Antifragile

5. NewJeans - Attention

6. IVE - LOVE DIVE

7. IVE - After LIKE

8. K/DA - POP/STARS

9. ITZY - WANNABE

10. Stray Kids - God's Menu

Uhm how was I supposed to know that :biblio: and the video I posted literally starts at #70 and except the k/da songs the list is the same though?

Anyway SLAY at NewJennies, LesserAngels and IVEsus :clap3:

speaking of XG, they debuted at #27 on Billboard Japan

seems good without Japanese promo, hopefully it will rise

they also debuted at #38 on Oricon chart with 11 828 points (no idea what that means)

They need to restock albums. Quickly.

Poppy kr = breakthrough kr versions seat at the same table and not in a good way.

Someone needs to fill me in because what happened to Lee Sooman :rip: has Chris Lee taken over?

LSM hasn't been the CEO for quite some time. But he still owns the controlling shares of SM and is their creative director in charge of the overall direction of all artists.

Chris Lee is LSM's nephew (and SNSD Sunny's cousin) and the current CEO.

There's been a power struggle within SM for a while and I think the board wants to get rid of LSM because of his dodgy contracts and tax evasion etc. They recently terminated some of his production contracts and his controlling shares are in the process of being sold since 2021. HYBE, CJ E&M, Naver and Kakao publicly revealed that they were bidding for his shares. But they all dropped out except for Kakao (and maybe Naver) who are still in the running.

Word on the street is, HYBE etc. walked away because LSM is insisting that he remains creative director of SM and this is also holding up the Kakao purchase. The board wants him out and gone for good it seems. This is probably part of why they are moving to a division structure too, so that his "creative director" role becomes unneeded.
