The thing I find most weird about it is how kpop fans will sexualize the most innocuous things of all time. aespa has really been releasing **** anthem after **** anthem for 2 whole years and when people overly sexualize them it's creepy and everybody can acknowledge that, but when It's a man who's just going about his day singing regular ass basic songs and fully covered up in normal clothes the discussion here turns *****graphic. It seems kinda predatory because it's totally uninvited. If people talked about Lisa or Taeyeon the way they talk about male idols in here there would be RIOTS:pancake:

Fans objectifying and dehumanizing idols is a massive issue that goes beyond male idol stans being thirsty but the perversion of it in these scenarios is especially off putting to most of us.

Some people take it too far with these weirdo fantasies and writing erotica and fanfics etc.

There's a line between admiring beautiful men and being a creepy weirdo

I'm honestly impressed by how much longevity SVT has and how they managed to outlast most of their peers. They kinda had a slow start especially back when 3rd gen was dominating, like weren't they behind the likes of EXO, NCT and GOT7 etc. back then? I sometimes forget that they are 3rd gen group, since they reached their peak way later compared to most of their peers. Like SVT weren't even on my radar until like 2021, and I was surprised to find out that they debuted in 2015 :dies:

What song was their breakout song aka their "God's Menu"?

while it’s true that they’re bigger than ever right now, seventeen has always been way more popular than got7 and nct, in korea at least (rightfully so) and they were praised for the high quality of their music ever since their debut.

Very Nice was a big hit in korea and that was in 2016. it’s just that the international girlies prefered noise music and i guess ignored them until recently??? or maybe they seem more popular now because BTS isn’t releasing as a full group so their domination isn’t as it used to be

Y'all taeyong genuinely likes trash/noise music. Now I can't say too much since I also like most of that too but Taeyong has made it know that he rides for bad but fun music. Of course he would want to sing Baggy jeans.

Poor baby Doyoung is always going through it every time it's time to release a new NCT song though :dies:

SVT were monster rookies. Their debut Adore U and Mansae were a one-two punch that had fans chanting so hard in year end stages it made EXO (who were dominating at the time) take notice.

I think their momentum was halted momentarily by Wanna One's short, explosive popularity in 2017 thanks to Produce 101 Season 2 being such a phenomenon. A lot of boy groups suffered from having their fans taken away from Wanna One they were just too powerful. That's why a lot of companies targeted them (and X1) later on (I remember them being called 'bullfrogs in the ecosystem' by anonymous company officials in reports at the time :rip:

After Wanna One broke up, then I think it was BTS sucking up all the spotlight. But it seems SVT kept growing gradually. I honestly think now that BTS is taking a bit of a break it's allowed other boy groups to shine and gain more attention.

I don't get what's wrong thirsting for Korean  idols that's literally the same old **** we been doing since Beethoven fan girls you can't change my mind thinking ATRL has been racist

it’s just that yall are weirdos that prove kpop producers right everyday when they say that idols are nothing more than sex dolls because porn is illegal in korea (produce 101 producer literally said that produce/kpop is soft porn) and yall are doing NOTHING to change that image that kpop has which is also why idols aren’t taken seriously as artists  :rip:

exactly!!! there were so many factors that took the spotlight from seventeen but i’m glad that they kept going and are now able to be the number one boygroup

it’s true that they’ve been big from debut and had big hits through their career, it’s just that they had to deal with monsters like EXO, BTS and Wanna One 😭

most idols aren't take seriously as artists because a large portion of them are just puppets for a larger machine. They sing what they're given and in the style of how the producers dictate, wear what they're told, style their hair however the company wants, dance the choreo theyre given, pose for pictures how they're told, etc.

That's just how the idol system works.

"The male version will be healthy *****graphy for female viewers."

"But because it has a lot of entertainment and fun elements, males will also watch."

that’s what produce 101 producer said. i’m sure some people in this thread agree with him and don’t see any issue with that statement  mind you this is also how the entire idol industry works

It's important to make an exception for the small portion of idol groups who do have at least the appearance of creative control in what sort of music they make. Stray Kids, Seventeen, Griddle, etc.

apart from seventeen, we can sadly tell when idols have creative freedom
