Well and maybe they don’t need the West :michael: it’s just not their image and that’s fine, not every kpop act is meant to cross over or have Western appeal

Their whole goal was being the new BP tho  :coffee2:

The US and west should not be a priority. Their good as touring markets but other than that, the focus should always be in Asia :intoit:

I stan Kpop bc of how camp and maximalist it is as oppose to whatever snorefeast the US has been giving lately. It should stay that way :gaygacat6:

just make them promote in korea/ japan more and they are set for another 3-4 years.

SM is kinda fumbling the bag for aespa in Japan.

I mean their debut there is getting close to the scale of SNSD or BoA...nearly 1M applications for their showcase, which had to be held over 4 dates in a 10k+ capacity arena all sold out, multiple RIAJ certifications, Billboard Artist chart top 10. Sold out nationwide arena tour. Then, fastest GG to book Tokyo Dome and selling it out...twice. Two top 3 albums in a row on Oricon. Winter viral and popular with the public.

And yet they haven't released a single song in Japanese and until a couple months ago, they had never even appeared on Japan TV.

I wish they were using this promotional slot for Japan rather than U.S. since they have it on lock.

Facts. The two main ingredients when you think of a pop girl group/mpgs: gorgeous and good singers the rest are just supplementary :clap3:

I think part of Aespa's success is because of their concept. They wouldn't have China or Japan in their chokehold if they were like any other GGs.

They’re like the least popular top group in Japan though. IVE, LSRFM, and NJ are bigger in Japan

right, US debut is gonna flop

at least in Japan they’d make some money… idk why SM is so obsessed with the west he did the same thing with NCT pushing to US when Japan was right there…

Aespa’s sole reason for popularity IS their kwangya/kpop/shouty/maximalist concept tho

If they were making Velvet music they wouldn’t be popular

The problem now is that instead of leaning into that they keep releasing boring midtempo’s they think the West will like? But we don’t :skull:

literally I hate their concept switch and even Spicy wasn’t all that to me

I have 0 hype for this English crap from Aespa. It’s always too watered down and disgustingly basic :rip: Why does SM think Aespa either needs to be pots and pans or elevator music? Why no in between? It’s why their music continues to be polarizing and lack widespread appeal. SM only knows extremes

I adore Spicy, it made me get into the rest of their discography :skull:

I feel like it was a ‘natural’ progression for them

BIIIIII!!!? OH She is COMING, Hang On is in different AREAS... And Taxi sounds like a summer smash. Even this ballad as a lil something else, wow. Glassy was great but her follow up stank, so I'm glad she had the time to get it right now

I might not be a big fan of Gridle but they are the most camp and fun group conceptually right now like they scream KPOP and are not afraid to show it.
