I kinda cackle at the fact that Kpop fans are so used to their faves being extra and making 10 aegyos in 1 seconds that BoA is now labelled as "lazy" while she's pulling off a laid back vibe while moving her body effortlessly in Stamp On It dance-break

Like dancing is not just about hip thrusting, hair flipping and ***** bopping :skull:

forgot about it

but I refuse to take it as an inappropriate mainly because of their age and it’s easier to me since English is not my native language (but of course I’m aware of the issue)

but other than that they have concepts that suits their age

now imagine BM singing Blackpink-ed songs

Wdym?

Could be wrong but I was told a lot (in this thread even) that the uncles dipped once the girls matured since feel special. That side of the base made me uncomfortable, so I guess I’m just happy the girls got bigger in the west in exchange for that loss

BoA was a little bit annoying with the MV views comment and she hasn't been serving energy this comeback, but at the same time, she doesn't have anything to prove to anyone at this point. She's been there and done IT.

The comments calling her a b*tch, hag, old and stinky etc were doing way way too much.

OT: I stumbled on this video. She can turn on the PRO vibes whenever she wants.

Exactly, I feel like until 3rd gen only the maknae would be like 15 and the other ones older but now we have 13/14yo maknaes and the age gap with the oldest member is smaller now so the average age is like 16 :skull:

i remember calculating the average age of 3rd and 4th gen ggs at the time ‪of their debut and the difference is just sad :deadbanana:

A lot of ppl coming for her dancebreak but she's serving the same moves in every video, even the dance practice. Like that's just how the choreography is. I think everybody would expect a dancebreak to be like "dancing your ass off" so BoA's move got interpreted as lazy

I don't think she's lazy. But the way she did her moves stood out against some of the others like Karina or Wendy who were giving more energy. I feel like because she's always been a soloist and the group is centered on her, she isn't as aware of matching the group dynamic like the others are. But in some ways she doesn't need to anyway.

OT: Wendy deserves her flowers in GOT. She's the only one in GOT who's not an official dancer in her group (like HYO, Seulgi, Karina, Winter) or has decades of stage experience (like BoA and Taeyeon). She really stepped up and delivered, despite not being a dancer.

People overrate "uncle" presence as it is.  What happened to Twice is that as their young male audience matured, they had to make other things in life a priority, and those fans were not replaced quick enough in the fandom churn.  Hard to still stan Twice when you have to prepare to fund your daughter's boy group obsession. :cm:

It was 2017 that gave us Bonus Baby, Lip Bubble and Busters all in the same year.  Those were the days.  Come to think of it, on that Mix9 diabacle, Yang Hyunsuk seemed to be spending an inordinate amount of time at Maroo with the Bonus Babys.  Maybe that's where this idea was spawned. :fan:

As long people keep supporting toddlers nothing will change at all. It will get worse.

It's a demographics play.  You debut young adults, the audience most receptive to that are upper high school students who by the time the 7 year contract is only half over, have moved on to struggle with their adult lives.  But if you debut young teens, the audience most receptive to that are tweens who throughout the duration of a 7 year contract are spending their parents money.

The other advantage that seems to be happening is if you're a company with established boy groups, if you debut a girl group with a big enough age difference, the company stan culture may be more receptive to adopting/protecting them rather than suspecting them.  Just as long as there are no T.O.Ps in the group.

The SPILLAGE

which is funny to me after all the recent "do idols really need singing talent?"

or "would you rather have an idol that can't sing, but perform great or a sub-par dancer with a good voice" articles

actual talent coming back, we'd (I'd) especially love to see it :clap3:

Posted (edited)

and that's one of the many reasons I was drawn to YG when I first got into K-Pop

actual raw talent is the foundation and at the forefront

YG produces the best artists and I will forever stand on that

no gimmicks, just talent! :clap3:
