Cute and, in many ways, I am rooting for them because the talent is unquestionably there. So is the void in the market for a girl group with global potential. Especially a Black girl group.

BUT, this perfectly articulated take from @est. in 90scontinues to ring true with Losing You:

FLO's image & persona feels inorganic in a way I can't explain. Their sound is very 00s R&B, to the point where it feels a bit contrived and too copy/paste of past girl groups of that era like Total and En Vogue, it comes across like they're a tribute act to that era without possessing a specific identity and sound of their own to set them apart, just a carefully curated one created by their label head.

I do like their EP but they give industry plant vibes. Like you can just tell a group of men in their 50s in suits & ties put them together to appeal to Gen Z and the y2k 00s revival that's been happening in music, fashion, etc. It gives very manufactured, from their 00s y2k fashion, MVs, live performances, music, all of it feels very orchestrated and not in a good way, but in an inauthentic way.

This song and video are TOO on the nose with the 90s/00s R&B references. They were all born in the 2000s, so can hardly claim that that this deep 90s/early 2000s R&B sound is genuinely authentic to all three of them. It's different if there were a sibling group and could play the whole "music we heard around the house". But they are literally a manufactured group. So, this all-encompassing "this defines us" is essentially BS.

I'm cautiously optimistic about their prospects.

They are getting the promo spots, increasing their profile, and release frequently so heighten their chance of eventually getting a hit. I suspect any true success will start in the US or be limited to there as I'm just not sure UK has the infrastructure available to really propel R&B acts locally speak less globally.

Really hope 2023 is a big year for them, because for as much excitement is around them, I'm slightly haunted by the untapped potential of other UK groups like The 411, Fya, etc. All of who had the same kind of buzz only to fizzle.

This is absolutely incredible. It’s so good.

This quote is laughable. It’s hilarious because that’s literally how all artists were put together prior to the SoundCloud era. People create terms and run with it. Every artist was an “industry plant” at one point.

Eventually they'll grow and find their sound and become more "authentic", so for now, this is great.

My only critique for this song is that they missed the big note at the end of the bridge. It was right there, and no one took it :dies:

there are rarely any girl groups that aren’t manufactured in some sense like… just enjoy the music

The music is good I really could care less about how they were formed. This song is excellent

Dope track. This is definitely a mid-90s vibe. I only wish we would've gotten a video for NMJ too.

I hear JoJo's voice on this for some reason.

I think it’s Stella’s voice on the chorus. That part seems the most comparable to Jojo’s vocals.

1:19 I know this melody way too well to know it wasn't inspired by Sabrina's nonsense

they're excellent by the way - UK GGs are always superior

This isn't bad but it's their weakest song so far. I guess there had to be one eventually though!

Exactly, it was bound to happen. But I’m more surprised that they thought this was a potential single to push with a music video and get the most playlisting than their other songs :deadbanana:

I'm looking at this as a cute holiday gift for the fans and nothing more because... :deadbanana4:

It’s nice but very phoned in.

It was meant to be a love song but an empowering break up one. I was like seriously when I first heard it, though it is amazing. This is pure 90’s R&B.

Still Feature Me is their best song. That needed it’s time to SHINE!

not my job and feature me are superior, but this is cute.

Yeah, I would've been fine with this being an album track. Always interesting to see what they come up with this debut era.
